Referred to as "Custom Light," EXP26 strings are a D'Addario original hybrid gauge and a comfortable compromise for players who want the depth and projection of light gauge bottom strings, but slightly less tension on the high strings for easy bending.
D'Addario's EXP coated strings now feature plain steel strings and hexagonal cores made of our revolutionary NY High Carbon Steel. Envisioned, perfected, and manufactured by D'Addario in New York, this newly engineered, break-resistant, high-carbon steel wire delivers unprecedented strength and pitch stability. Bought a basic Denver acoustic guitar at L&M as a practice tool and "Sofa" guitar, but the standard D'Addarrio strings felt pretty rough, guitar sounded kind if tinny. After a couple weeks, I decided to experiment with these EXP strings in a lighter gauge. Felt like a lot of money to spend on strings for a basic guitar, however, there was an immediate difference in how the guitar sounds and feels. Easy on the fingers, easier to tune, and warmer sound. As a newer guitar player, these strings opened my eyes to the difference good strings make. Seems like you get what you pay for. If the strings last longer, then the value is there.
