Additional Photos:
Composer: Johann Sebastian Bach
Transcribed: David Fetter
Format: Score and Parts
Instrumentation: Chamber Quartet (Trombone, Flute, Cello, and Piano/Harpsichord)
Frohe Hirten, also known as Joyous Shepherds is a beautiful aria from Bach's Christmas Oratorio, Part II. In this excellent edition in the original key by David Fetter, the Flute obligato part has been preserved and a Continuo/Piano part with optional Cello fills in for the orchestra.
Bach's writing is very special with exceptionally long phrases for both the Trombone and Flute.
This transcription can add a lovely touch to a recital. About six minutes in length for moderately advanced performers.
