The long-awaited Eric Johnson Stratocaster guitar arose from Johnsons express wish to give something back to the collectors, players and fans whove supported him throughout his career.

Designed by Johnson himself with his own personal features and preferences, this signature model has a highly contoured two-piece alder body with a very thin nitrocellulous lacquer finish. The one-piece quarter-sawn maple neck has a V-shaped profile, 12 fingerboard radius and 21 polished frets. The staggered vintage-style machine heads eliminate the need for a string tree, and the custom pickups are wound to Johnsons specs. Other features include a parchment 57-style pickguard, four-spring vintage tremolo, silver-painted block and 57-style string recess with no paint between the base plate and the block.

If you are at all a Strat player then this is THE one!! This is my 3rd Eric Johnson Strat and I regret letting the other 2 slip away before the price on these jumped! I found my latest on a chance day off while tracking guitars in Brooklyn last summer. Found a black Eric Johnson used at a Guitar Center. It needed a setup and that's about it . I have owned close to over 50 strats, everything from Customshop Master builds by Todd Krause, and Jason Smith to some very nice team builds and let me tell you these Strats are very close to a vintage 57 strat with modern appointments that the working musician needs. 12 " radius, and a unique tuner /headstock drop that eliminates the need for a string tree. You can set the action really low , float the bridge and w/3 springs in the open back and you have a winner. I use this as an everyday player guitar for my teaching gigs and plan to use it as a backup for some upcoming tours .The pickups have a lot of body and clarity. They really react well to the volume and tone controls allowing for an array of vintage to fat modern sounds . You can definitely shred on these and hold fat distorted tones - the Bridge pickup with the tone control at 7/8 through a distorted and loud Friedman- glorious indeed! The neck pickup , is fantastic for clean blues or vintage Hendrix can even grab some nice Jazz comping with the reactive tone controls . I currently own a few Customshop Teles and a Customshop 63 Strat and this gets the most play. You never see these used and there is a reason for that. I can't put the thing down and a few of my buddies whom own them feel the same way. Get one! You will immediately bond with it.

I love My 17 Fender USA Eric Johnson signature USA stratocaster. It's so relaxing to play it slides up and down the fretboard as fast as you can hit the notes this is a must have guitar that is extremely hard to find used because Fender USA stratocaster owners love to play them

Take heed. If all the reviews say the EJ Strat is the best production Strat ever, BELIEVE IT! Words are one thing, but when you physically hold it, feel how your left hand just melts into the back of the neck and hear how glorious the pickups sound, you'll immediately know that the EJ stands way out from pretty much every other Strat made. Give it a good setup, revert back to a 3-spring tremolo and get the bridge to float a bit, use 10-46 pure nickels and enjoy the best single coil tones you have ever heard.

I’ve got 4 Strats; the first, an Am-Standard, I bought from L&M 28 years ago. As far as I’m concerned, the Eric Johnson Strat is about as good as it gets in terms of attention to detail and all of the features that make up the finished guitar. The only way I can see a player getting a better Strat is by going the Custom Shop route. The 2 piece alder body is flawless, resonant and really light. Mine is a sunburst with maple neck and it weighs 7.2 lbs. it sounds really nice and resonant, even when playing unplugged. The 12” radius, soft-v neck is chunky like a 50’s Les Paul neck but it’s not too much of a handful. It doesn’t feel super wide. The nitro finish is about the most comfortable feeling finish a guitar could have. You just don’t want to put it down. The frets are super smooth and low. The action can be super low without buzzing and fretting out. The nickel plated hardware is even a step up from the typical decent quality Fender hardware. The pickups are really unique, especially the bridge pickup. It has a tone all its own and I often find myself surprised I’m on the bridge pickup as much as I am on this guitar. I think the only way you could get a better guitar is by having a custom built Strat from a boutique builder or the Fender Custom Shop. Big thanks to Eric Johnson and Fender. They got this one absolutely right.

This guitar leaves me speechless after every time I play it and or just look at it. The nitro finish on the body and neck is just spectacular and the grain lines really pop out on the beautiful quarter sawn neck as well. The neck radius makes full step bends a breeze. The pick ups are just perfect to my ear and are the first time I'm not swapping them out like I have in previous strats or other electrics. Would love to have one of the rosewood models next. Still contemplating it. By far the nicest strat for the money and wouldn't doubt they're just as good as the more expensive custom shop models. You might not be able to play one before you buy one like I didn't but I watched every u tube video and read every review I could find on this guitar which made my desicion a no brainer in ordering one through my Burlington store.

Absolutely a joy to play and look at. Do not want to put it down. By far the nicest Strat I've ever played and owned. The vintage tint quarter sawn neck is absolutely stunning and the grain pattern on the headstock and fretboard on this one I got is amazing to look at and the nitro cellulose finish is outstanding all around. The 12.5" neck radius is great for mid neck whole step bends as well. Love the tone of the custom EJ pick ups too. I'm definately considering getting the rosewood board EJ model as well. There are some slight differences between the two as well which make it worth it to me especially for the price which is a great deal for this guitar.

I think we owe Mr Johnson a thank you. Lots of features here that add up to one great guitar. It's the attention to detail that sets it apart.....things like the 1/4 sawn neck that's super stable, the no paint between the trem block and vintage trem block specs. Simply one of the best Strats I've ever owned.

This may be the best Fender , including custom shop. This guitar sings, light body and a nice progressive neck carve. The pickups are clean and clear and work great with my tube amp. This is my first guitar with the nitro finish. This is how a guitar should feel.

Eric Johnson and fenderweren't trying to replicate a 57 stratocaster exactly to thetee, however the goal was to have the best of the old combined with the best of the new. I have many custom shop stratocasters and this guitar is A much much much better player! Bottom line is I can't believe I overlook this guitar for all these years trust me a guy that owns many high-end strats and lespauls ,this is the guitar to buy. Even if this guitar cost a thousand dollars more ,it would of been worth it !

Everything about this guitar screams quality. You have to play this guitar to feel how solid it is. But it isn't heavy. The nitro finish is so much nicer than the usual polyurethane finish on regular production strats. Pictures don't do it justice. The guitar is flawless. If you like strats, you really have to try it out.

Ok, hands down a killer 57 replica. It is a monster, for the price of a real 1957 this baby is pretty close for the fraction of the cost of a real one.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
