Schott Piano Works, Volume One - Satie/Ohmen = Piano - Book
Additional Photos:
Composer: Erik Satie
Arranger: Wilhelm Ohmen
Format: Book
Instrumentation: Piano
Level: Intermediate
Erik Satie was an unconventional composer, "one of those natures who are out of opposition to everything that is in existence, who question everything and are willing to start all over their lives" (Klaus Wolters). With his meditative, sometimes mystical piano cycles "Gymnopedies" and "Gnossiennes" (1889/90), he influenced Ravel and Debussy. The pieces are deliberately short and light, have simple forms and a partly humorous character (such as, for example, the Bureaucratic Sonatina drawing on Clementi).
