Disclaimer: I bought this shoulder rest elsewhere long before I found out that Long & McQuade started selling it.
I believe that the Bon Musica is the BEST shoulder rest violinists because it is the MOST customizable shoulder rest for almost any body type! Once this shoulder rest is customized/adjusted and fits comfortably, my violin hold is SO fixed/stable that my the violin does not slip down my shoulder, and I am just using my chin and my shoulder to support my violin hold.
You can customize this shoulder rest by adjusting many things including: bending the shoulder and the chest pieces to fit your body type, and adjusting the height and angle of the feet! You can also adjust the shape of the shoulder rest itself by using one of the side holes, thus making it off-center.
Note: you can customize this shoulder rest by bending the metal bar itself in order to get a DEEP hook/exact shoulder shape curve (for those with VERY narrow shoulders and who use a center-mounted chinrest).
A couple of caveats about bending the metal bar in order to get that DEEP hook/exact shoulder shape curve: 1. The more you bend the metal bar, the bigger that chance the original nuts and screws will touch the back of the violin, thus scratching the back of the violin! To avoid this, use a SMALLER locknut that fits the original screw/screws (yes it can work with using only one locknut and one screw just as well). 2. If you decide to remove the SMALLER locknut, you will need a wrench in order to do so.
In my honest opinion, there are two disadvantages about this shoulder rest: 1. it does not fit in some violin cases. 2. For other violinists who like to have movement with their violin when playing, the shoulder rest can be too fixed.

It is adjustable and fits my tiny but manly shoulders.
