Very pleased with my D18. Was actually shopping for a J45 but couldn’t find one that suited me. Then I tried this D18 and the sound was amazing. I’ve had it for almost a year now, just had the relief and saddle adjusted…perfect! Great service here, thanks Mark and Corey.

As one guy who owns many Gibsos and Fenderes, there’s one guitar I turns to make acoustic recordings in the studio: it’s the Martin D18! This is the king of make much music as like my ES-3339 is for electrics - but make soften and glitter. Trusts me: take away the wild and crazy guy, you had left the beautiful resonances of the D-18!

Just bought one of these D 18's after returning a few D and HD 28's. Reason? The neck on the D 28's made my hands sore around ball of Index fingers - too much guitar. The D 18 plays like a charm and no soreness now - so happy to find a guitar like this - no wonder Kurt Cobain used a D 18 for Nirvana Unplugged...

Playing with a pick, the sound of this guitar is 10/10. However when it comes to finger picking, it really lacks in treble compared to a d28. So just be aware of this.

The binding is falling off this Martin D-18 after being perfectly humidified and babied, and purchased new from L&M. For some reason L&M won’t let me post a negative review.

I am totally in love with my D-18 - the look, the feel, the playability and mostly the extremely very pleasing tonality perfectly suited for the fingerstyle music I do. The tonal balance is exactly right for me

Bought my D18V new in 2004, and it’s never let me down. It sounds so good and sweet. Love the string spacing and the soft V neck of this model. Will never part with it.

Awesome Guitar in every respect. I bought the new model ( 2012 +). It's incredible what Martin has done with this classic. I own a 1973 D18 for comparison. Despite what people say about guitars aging and opening up, the new D18 sounds fantastic right out of the case. Sounds better than the old one, that's a high compliment. Plays super easy as well. I have tried dozens of high end guitars at music stores over the years. For me the D18 is the best. It's not blingy, or flashy, it's all tone and playability. I liken it to a "sleeper" car. Plain looks big engine. You often hear that the D18 is a bluegrass guitar, good for leads. All true, but its incredibly good at everything. It will never be the limiting factor. It's a great value, Its hard to imagine a better guitar at any cost. The L&M layaway plan makes purchasing a lot easier as well. Great staff at the local store by the way.

Can't imagine playing or buying a much better guitar than these new D-18's that Martin is pumping out! Big woody voice out of the forward scalloped braces, beautiful tonewoods, (mine has quilted mahogany back). Next time your near an L&M store try one out folks...sure glad i did!

I had been looking at Gibson, J35 and J45 mainly, with every intention of getting one of the two When I was in the Burlington store I decided to look at a couple of Martin guitars out of curiosity. 5 minutes with the D-18 and it was game over. Not a knock on the Gibsons; they're beautiful in every respect. I think it was the neck and the feel of the guitar that sealed the deal. I don't have large hands and the D18 felt incredibly playable. Fantastic!

Martin has really stepped up the D-18's game. I've been working in music stores for coming on 4 years now and the new D-18 I just bought is one of the best sounding guitars I've ever played. Sure you could spend a couple hundred or even a couple thousand more on an acoustic guitar, but I'd eat my hat if the 18 didn't stand up to higher end models. The forward shifted bracing makes ALL the difference. The only thing I don't like is the tuning machines, and that's only based on my own preferences, the butterbean knobs I find hard to adjust and I find closed gear machines last longer before gumming up

Having owned a D-18 back in the 60's, I have never found another guitar brand that could come close to the D-18, up until now that the new modern 2012 with the ebony finger board, forward scalloped braces that brings "the sound" back that many of the old Martins had. I am glad to have this new D-18 with the benchmark of the old Martin sound and quality craftsmanship of CF Martin.

The new Martin D-18 is gorgeous with it's ebony fret board and bridge and it's open back tuners. It screams vintage Martin. Playing this guitar is a real joy, it makes me sound like I actually know what I'm doing:) If you can get it, get it. It could be the only acoustic you will ever need.

Martin nailed it with the new D-18, you will not find a better sounding/playing D series instrument at this low price point! A Martin D-18 with fwd shifted scalloped bracing, ebony board & bridge, bone nut/saddle and a bevelled Delmar pickguard for 2 grand? This guitar sounds so good that I sometimes miss a chord change because I'm lost listening to the overtones. Thanks CF&Co!!!

Sounds deeper and more powerful than the previous D-18.Has many Vintage Pre-War Features which makes this new offering a much better value. I also like the new 400 series Case: attractive and user friendly! I'm very pleased!

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.

Great Additions
