Dad is Paul Schocker, a virtuoso pianist and former Juilliard faculty member, who spent a life in pursuit of musical excellence in himself and others, and who obviously passed this passion to son his son, the composer. A top-ranked musician, Paul is said to have had the utmost respect for those who could compose, and must have taken great pride in the son who became the most-published living composer of flute music, as well as one of the flute’s greatest proponents and performers. For Dad is a remembrance of the recently-departed Paul Schocker, featuring a quiet, soulful melodic line and endlessly sustained notes.
