Baerenreiter Verlag Overture to ''The Marriage of Figaro'' - Mozart/Cohen - 4 Flutes - Score/Parts
Additional Photos:
Composer: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Editor: Howard A. Cohen
Format: Score and Parts
Instrumentation: 4 Flutes
Shortly after the successful first performance of Mozart's opera buffa "Le nozze di Figaro", the opera as a whole, as well as individual pieces from it, were published in arrangements for various instrumental ensembles. In the age before radio and records, attending performances or making music on your own was the only way to get to know a work. This arrangement of the overture ("Sinfonia") for four transverse flutes involves each of the moderately difficult voices intensively in the musical event, and offers flautists the opportunity to discover a movement from Viennese classical music in a similar way to "connoisseurs and lovers" of music of the time.
