Q & A

Question: What makes it limited edition? How many were made?
- asked on Jun 15, 2024
Answer: This means that the model is produced for a specific time and production numbers are not available. How many they produce could be dictated by many factors but once the "run" of the production period is finished, it is no longer available to be ordered.

Answer: We're not sure how many were made, but we only got 119 of them. That likely means there were 1000 made for the world wide market.

There's nothing bad to say about this guitar. Like previous review has mentioned, finding the right one is important. It plays flawlessly, no buzzing, nice low action, very comfortable neck, a beautiful flame top, and it will only appreciate in value as time goes. The 60s burstbuckers sound really warm and beautiful on clean and on high gain this guitar can certainly chug. For Gibson lovers this is an excellent buy if you don't plan on breaking the bank on a custom. As a rhythm guitarist it looks really nice during practices and gigs. Just take care of it and keep it in it's case when you're not using it and it will last you a lifetime and age just like a fine murphy lab.

The most important thing with this guitar is to go in person to try it out before buying it. These guitars are handcrafted from start to finish, so I'd say about 90% of the time if not more they're not going to be perfect like how a machine does it. Cosmetically every flame top is going to look different unless it's a plain top. Physically every les paul will feel different based on the weight, neck, and action. There's no better or worse it's all preference at the end of the day. Although every 60s standard comes with the slim taper neck, it is important to know that some may feel ever so slightly thinner/thicker than the other, which some people might notice and some might not. Having gone to 4 L&M's I definitely felt the difference in weight and necks. The one I settled on was on the heavier side and had what I felt to be the thinnest neck, which was what I was looking for. It's rare nowadays to find a les paul that is book-matched but when you do it's definitely something to use as a deciding factor if looks really matter to you. FEATURES 5/5 - For a guitar that is trying to mimic the old school traditional les paul, it does that very well. Coil tapping/splitting came out years later. QUALITY 4.5/5 - I didn't give it a 5 because of the quality control issues. Even my les paul has a bit of a crooked pickguard that clicks when I press down and does not look flush to the pickup. I know it's something that can be fixed in the future and I did not want to give up the flame top and the low action. Aside from the pickguard it looks flawless. It's always a treat opening up the case. Cherry burst is beautiful and goes really nice with the red felt in the case. VALUE 5/5 - Although it is quite pricey, it will always be a good investment because these guitars continue to get more and more expensive. If in 5 years you decide you don't want it anymore, chances are you can sell it for what you paid new.. if not more. OVERALL 5/5 - It's a beautiful guitar and although qc isn't the greatest, once you find the one that speaks to you, is when you will see and feel the craftsmanship that goes behind these instruments. You can very much so find a LP standard that plays just as smooth as a custom. It's not common but they do exist. And when you find it all you have to do at that point is upgrade the pickups and hardware and it gets pretty close to what a custom is. It's a beautiful guitar that I hope to pass down to my kid someday.

My first Gibson but not my first guitar. It was the best looking guitar in the store. (My opinion of course). It grabbed my attention every time I came in the store until one day I finally caved and brought it home. It sounds as good as it looks. Amazing sustain. Unfortunately there’s little to no paint and no clear coat in the crevice of the book on the head stock. An insert fell out of one of the knobs. Pitting on part of the tail piece but not noticeable thank goodness. The AAA top is absolutely beautiful.

I've wanted a cherry sunburst since the first time I saw Jimmy Page play MSG. This guitar is a dream. Mine had the most amazing flame top I've ever seen. Better than any custom shop I've seen. Plays beautifully, sounds incredible. I traded 5 guitars in at Pickering to get to this level. Thanks to the Pickering L&M staff for their patience during my purchasing decision. I'll have this guitar forever and leave it to my son. Worth the money.

Just purchased this beautiful instrument from the Bedford store, a gift from my wife for our 50th wedding anniversary. This has always been my dream guitar and can't believe it is now here in my studio. The top on this is a piece of art and the entire guitar just feels right. I have owned an SG and I currently own a Raven Les Paul copy and 2 squires but this is a dream come true.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
