First, I did something I never do: use the clean channel. To my surprise, the same channel past midpoint on the volume gives a very satisfactory sound. And it isn't too loud for home use (I set my volume at roughly 7). Remembering from long ago experiences with non-master tube amp, I tried my Boss DS-1. It gave a very good sound however, I remembering using back then an Ibanez Tube Screamer. Checking at my local L&M, I thought I should give a try to the Behringer equivalent (excellent reviews on so many on-line sites). At $40, it isn't a big deal. Trying it at home a little later gave me an OMG moment! Truly great! Must be tried to believe. Since I'm an old guy, I favour late sixties and early seventies sounds. My settings are the following: Amp settings: Volume 7, ISF 8, and if in use, the delay at a little above 3. Note: same good sound at lower settings. TO 800 settings: Drive at 3/4 to full, tone at 5 and volume at 5 In my opinion, the perfect home use practice amp after years and years of trying. I also prefer it to its bigger relative at 15W. First of all, volume isn't needed. Second, as reviewed previously, the 10e in my opinion sounds better.

I now have used both the Debut 10E and the Debut 15E for a little more than a year. I'm very satisfied with both though, I must say I prefer the smaller 10E. The 15E offers more sound control due to a Gain one and a Tone control. However I found the added control, especially the Tone, unnecessary. I keep it at zero. The Gain might entice some players. As an old school guy, I manage very well by lowering the volume on my guitar. Since I play at home, the 10W is more than sufficient. Someone needing more volume would of course benefit from the 15W version. The Debut 10E, with the exact speakers as for its slightly larger brother, offers to my ears, a better bass response. One of course should try before buying. My main amp consists of a Marshall Ori 20C. Great amp I've own for 4 years. Going from the Marshall on lowest power to the 10E isn't disappointing (I use the Ori20C with a BOSS DS-1). As a final point, a very simili Marshall 60s area sound can be obtained from these amps if you do not engage the OD button (on the 15E max the gain control; on the 10E increase the volume).

Great! What a pleasure now that L&M acquired Blackstar lines. I purchase the 10E over a month ago. At the time, L&M didn't carry the referred manufacturer's product. Over the years, I had checked many reviews, after learning JJ Nichols uses them. I bought my first amp in 1971. Since then, I used almost everything with satisfactory results (some more than others) however, a low volume, practice, or bedroom, amplifier remained elusive. The 10E does the trick brilliantly! Don't let the two little 3" speakers turn you off. They work brilliantly! I owned at one point THRs. The 10E, in my humble opinion, sound much better (and my other amps uses 10" and 12" Celestions) so I can compare. I do not feel let down when I switch from them to this knick-knack. Feature wise? It features all one needs. And if you are a Jr guitar user, this amp's simplicity adds to a minimalist desires. The ISF allows at each extreme settings, a US, or a Brit sound. Very useable combinations are available in between. The delay sounds great. It creates a reverb like sound if needed. The cabinet feels and look solid. It's beautiful in a vintage manner. It weights almost nothing compared to a Twin Reverb. Don't expect to use it on a stage unless it's a very, very, very small venue without a drum (perhaps an amplified one set at very low volume). It wasn't designed for such purpose. On the other hand, for a beginner, the 10E won't require replacement. It'll do for home/studio use, as long as you need such an amp. The amp sounds great with both humbuckers and single coils. Here's where the ISF control becomes useful. Headroom? Not much really. The distortion once engaged allows good rhythm sounds simply by turning back your guitar volume. For more versatility, the 15E offers more tone controls as well as a gain control. The larger cab will give of course a bit more depth. However, the 10E does the job magnificently. I love mine and won't part with it. I plan to acquire a 15E at L&M. With both and an ABY switch, many tones will be possible. When I purchased mine (from a very small) local dealer, he wouldn't take it off the sealed box. I took a chance I never regretted later on. At the moment, these amplifiers aren't in L&M stores yet. Don't let it be an obstacle (ordering). At these prices, they are less than most pedals. If for some reason you do not like it (?), put it back in the box. They'll make great birthdays or Christmas presents. A Stage capable model was introduced recently called the 50E. Quite a few reviews already exist. From these, it seems a very good amp for so little cash! If you need a first 'stage capable' amp, it should well do the job.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
