Great strings for beginners and younger players without developed fingertip callouses. These strings reduce tension on the neck as well so the action typically falls a bit lower than if the guitar were to be strung with standard bronze type strings. Overall, much easier to play especially when starting out. The trade off is that these strings are not quite as bright sounding and give up a little on depth and tone. Also, I find that they don't stand up to a lot of heavy use like some other brands. The main reason why I like these strings so much is their playability. I keep them strung up on one of my cutaway acoustics - one that I use for lead style playing. I can play my Washburn D10SSCE acoustic cutaway like an electric guitar, especially when I tune down half a step. These strings can bend so wonderfully that it would be difficult to do so using other strings. Overall, if you have a young child who is just starting, try these strings (especially tuned down 1/2 step) to make the playing so much easier. And if you're a seasoned player who wants to be able to bend and pick riffs out across the neck of an acoustic, these strings will definitely make a difference.

I have a couple folk size guitars that had 12-53 strings and my fingers got fatiqued and sore very easily because of the short scale. Strung them up with these Martin Silk & Steel they sound just as full and they are easy on the fingers. One of the guitars is a Martin slotted headstock and these strings are a lot easier to manouver than regular bronze 12-53. I just change all my acoustics to Silk & Steel, just for relief of finger tip soreness.
