Artistic Repertoire for Technical Development
Composer: Jean Louis Streabbog
Editor: Tom Gerou
Format: Book
Instrumentation: Piano
Level: Intermediate
Jean Louis Gobbaerts (Belgian, 1835-1886) was a successful concert pianist, teacher, and composer during the Romantic period. Although he composed over 1,200 piano compositions, he is best remembered through his educational works under the pseudonym J. L. Streabbog (Gobbaerts spelled backwards). The simplicity and appeal of these accessible pieces show a perceptive knowledge of the abilities of student pianists.
Minor editorial changes were made in this edition such as revised layouts, addressing duplicate or missing dynamics, suggested pedaling, and modifications to some slurs and fingering. Older editions exist with varying titles. The pieces in this edition are listed only in the contents, not on the individual pieces.
