The PRS SE DGT (David Grissom Trem) brings David Grissom's signature model to the SE Series for the first time. Based on the McCarty platform, the DGT model has been a constant favorite since its introduction in 2007, thanks to Grissom's deep knowledge of vintage guitars and his painstaking attention to detail. Every feature on the SE DGT has been considered from the neck shape to the fret choice and dressing, from the colours to the pickups and electronics layout.

The SE DGT features vintage-voiced humbuckers paired with individual volume controls for each pickup and a push/pull master tone control that taps the humbuckers for sweet, single-coil inspired sounds. This layout puts a lot of control and versatility on tap so you can focus on playing and not the guitar. Additional appointments include a maple top, mahogany back, 22-fret, 25" scale length mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard, and bird or moon inlays (inlays are colour dependent).

Recently purchased this guitar and already have used it in rehearsals and one club gig to date. Never been happier with a LP type guitar and the pickups are outstanding. The coil tap switch feature is great doesn't suffer from large volume loss as it does with many other brands. PRS is just killing it with these SE guitars (this is my second) and can't anything that comes close, especially at this price.

I've had this guitar for a year now and it is a keeper. I don't need a more expensive guitar though I had several and no longer have any of them. I find the quality in these lower mid priced guitars is so good I can't justify spending more money. Many brands produce good guitars in the lower prices and I have a few of them. Unless I win the lottery I probably will never own a pricey guitar again.

I agree with all the other reviewers. The sound superior quality pickups, overall build quality fit and finish top notch. But my main reason for writing this review is to give major kudos to the fine peeps at L & M. Fred, Emily, Chad, Lucas, Will, Ted and all the other crew members at Cambridge L & M are such a great bunch of folks. Superior customer service is not dead, but is alive and well here at L & M.

What a pleasure to play. Beautiful fretwork. It's worth noting that the fretboard is edged with thin rosewood allowing for properly finishing the fret ends. So a binding in effect. No issues this winter with fret ends. Not that familiar with PRS but I can't think the American made ones would be much better than this.

What a guitar! I would recommend it 100% to anyone. The pickups are fantastic. They sound great dirty, clean, and everything in between. You can literally play anything on this guitar. Fit and finish are perfect out of the box. I had to adjust the truss rod, but that's to be expected in a guitar that travelled from half way around the world to Northern Ontario. Took me a little while to get used to the slightly smaller nut, and larger frets. Now that I'm used to those, it really is a dream to play. I can't put this thing down. This guitar blows away anything I've played at this price point.

There is a reason these are selling like hotcakes. They do everything well. I LOVE the pickups. Hot & Spicy. When I got it the only thing that drove me nuts was the volume controls. Dave Grissom likes to spend 98% of time on the Bridge PU so of course he put the control near the pickup. On the other hand I spend most of my time on the Neck PU. I took it to Mark Stephenson and he fixed it in 10 minutes. There is enough wire in the control cavity that you just take out the neck/bridge controls and swap them. No soldering necessary. There is a special tool for getting the knob off. It's an incredible guitar now. :)

Can't keep this guitar out of my hands for long. Dang, what a joy to play! Gonna order the gold-top for back up -- My new tobacco sunburst needs a partner. A welcome member to the family. Wondering if my other guitars will get a little jealous!! dcb

I ordered mine back in early February and it finally showed up in early November(!) I've been playing it pretty much constantly over the past week and concur with everything people have been saying in various reviews and demos online: it's well designed and built, looks and sounds great, and is a pleasure to play. I was happy to discover how the volume and tone controls are nicely interactive - when you back the tone off to about 7 it actually removes upper midrange content (this is more noticeable when the volume is also backed off a touch), behaving a bit like a 50s-wired Gibson rather than simply acting like a low-pass filter (which it does do at the lower end of it's range). Great range of tones available here.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.

Great Additions
