Skeptical Guitarist Music Theory for the Weary: Scales, Chords and the Circle of Fifths - Emery - Book
Additional Photos:
Author: Bruce Emery
Format: Book
Subject: Music Theory
Presented using Standard Music Notation (the dots, flags and beams) as well as piano keyboard diagrams, the story is told mainly from the perspective of the Key of C (all the white keys) to create a firm foundation with minimal distraction. Other keys appear, but we keep returning to C for simplicity. Notes are assembled into scales, which are used to generate chords and families of chords, which are then seen to connect with each other through the Circle of Fifths. After arriving at this point with the help of the major scale, we move on to examine how various minor scales and jazz modes contribute to the universal musical experience.
