The North American made all-tube Traynor Custom Special 100 Series II is the ideal powerhouse head for anyone looking for the ultimate hard rock guitar amplifier. Built for life on the road, the solid plywood cabinet and all metal chassis deliver unmatched long-term reliability meant to survive even the most grueling tour schedule.

Driven by four hand selected and tested EL34EH power and four 12AX7A preamp tubes, the 100-watt YCS100H2 is a true three channel amplifier, built for maximum flexibility on stage. Useful pro features like independent effects and reverb level controls on every channel, separate in-line and parallel effects loops, footswitchable solo boost, a speaker compensated XLR DI output, versatile voicing switches and user selectable amplifier output modes ensure the YCS100H2 will fit perfectly in the rehearsal hall, studio and concert hall.

True Three-Channel Architecture
The YCS100H2 uses a true three-channel architecture that offers full control of each and every channel. No shared EQ's or pseudo "channels" here. Every channel on the YCS100H2 has individual gain and volume controls, a full three band EQ with boost level and its own effects return and reverb settings. Every channel has additional voicing and boost switches, increasing flexibility and widening the tone pallet.

Versatile Voicing Control
Every Channel on the YCS100H2 delivers versatile voicing options with Modern, Scoop and Boost switches to tailor the tone to any playing style. The Master Section includes an overall Master Volume, Presence and Resonance Control to further tailor the tone. The Resonance Control, when used with a high quality and responsive loudspeaker enclosure, like the Celestion Vintage30 loaded Traynor YCS412A2 (Angled cabinet) or YCS412B2 (Bottom cabinet), allows the player to dial in the exact bass response from their rig that they want to hear.

Unmatched Reliability and Tone
The Traynor YCS100H2 head, and matching YCS412 series cabinets are made using a solid plywood cabinet construction and an all-metal chassis; no MDF or particleboard is used. Hand selected EL34EH power tubes and 12AX7A preamp tubes are used exclusively in the YCS100H2. An Accutronics long-spring reverb is standard issue.

Selectable Amplifier Modes
Selectable amplifier modes allow the YCS100H2 to switch between a 100-watt Class-A/B mode, ideal for the live stage, or a more manageable 30-watt Class-A mode, - perfect for creating a super saturated tone in the studio.

Professional Feature Set
Professional features like separate parallel and in-line effects with independent return levels per channel, DynaSound speaker compensated XLR direct output and a heavy-duty four-button footswitch are standard on the YCS100H2. A one-touch solo boost button (with front panel level control) delivers added flexibility on stage.

The fact that this amp isn’t revered and still made defies logic! I have Marshalls, Fenders including non reissue blackface and this amp is crazy good and can hang with almost any amplifier made. The distortion, if you know what you are doing, will scare wild animals for miles…no need for bear spray!

I've had this amp for about 6 months now, and love it more every day. It's incredibly versatile, and not in a way that compromises anything. It's also one of the few 100 heads that doesn't need to be tuned up painfully loud to get a decent sound. From mildly crunchy tube cleans, to 80s rock, to scooped metal, it does a solid job. I've pushed this thing hard, and no issues. The reverb is gold... and having 3 separate controls for it is a great perk. The specs say it's powered by 4 EL34s, but I'm pretty sure it runs on some Jedi stuff too.

Easily rivals with my Muli-Watt Dual Rectifier. It is tighter than my Dual Rectifier, very articulate, doesn't even need a tube screamer to get nice and chuggy. I very highly recommend it.

does everything i need a high powered head to do....run two in stereo with matchng 4x12 traynor cabs.....i changed the tubes to tung sol 12ax7's in the preamp and EHX 6CA7EH in the power stage....sound is detailed , articulate and get get dirty also....if you want more dirt use the EHX EL34....they are also clean put have that true british sound....the 6Ca&EH is more clean like a hiwatt amp...

This is a great stage amp overall. It has 3 channels, one of which sounds sort of like a vintage Fender tube and another more like a Marshall. This gives you a lot of versatility. My only complaint is that all three channels are aggressively overdriven. None of the three options is a "clean" channel; all are overdriven. It would be nice if you had one completely clean channel, either for an acoustic guitar or for a completely pedal-driven effects sound. Having all three channels overdriven means, IMO, that digital multi-effects pedals or amp modellers (like a Digitech, Line6, etc) are useless.

I'm in a Sabbath Tribute band. We use this same amp head at rehearsal, so naturally my pedal setup is set for this amp, so when I went to rent an amp for my first gig with them, I went for this head with a matching cab. I have a specific tone setup for the clean channel so that I can dial in that right tone for classic Iommi, and I get pretty darn close with this head. My band always says I should get an Orange head for the awesome distortion they have, but honestly I prefer this over Orange plus having a heavy distortion isn't always needed with sabbath. The right tone is more important than hiding behind a wall of distortion. Its just more versatile in my opinion. If you use distortion or overdrive pedals, you can dial in the right tone with the clean channel, but don't count the crunch and heavy channels out, they're pretty good too! And comparing it to every marshall I've had as a backup when this one was unavailable, it beats them hands down. Then again, they weren't a JCM-2000, but even then I'd prefer this head over that. It's a distortion style preference for me. While saying all this after saying everything I've said so far is kinda me being hypocritical when compared to what I'm going to say, its the truth. The above praising of this head is a thanks to Traynor for this head from my personal experience, but the best advice I can give for those wishing to know what its like: Try it out in person. Try every head out in person and find the absolute right one for you. Main thing is, you won't know if you prefer this head over another, and no amount of text on the internet will make you decide which is better.

I went into the PG L&M looking at getting ideas and trying several amps out before I made a purchase. Did tons of research online and this amp was always in the Top 10 in ratings on every website I researched. I tried multiple amps and none had what this amp was capable of. 2 different distortion/overdrive channels and a thick solid clean. Very powerful, versatile and durable amp I have owned it 8 months now and I can't see myself playing anything else for years to come.

How do you get an amp that does everything perfectly? Im just so excited about this amp. Had it 4 years and it still gives me goosebumps. This goes from shimmering clean... (Very Matchless and Boutique sounding especially in the 30 watt Class A) to blistering rock and roll. You name a style, not only does this amp do it, it does it better than most amps twice the price. Bogner, Marshall, Bad Cat, Divided by 13, Egnater, Fender... havent found an amp i like better than this one

I rented this amp to give it a go before I buy it. I WILL be buying it. Great sound as soon as I plugged it in. Very easy to use. Love the fact that it is Canadian made. The clean settings rival any amp I have used in nearly 45 years of playing. The distortion settings are to die for. Ballsy deep and loud. Overall a really great amp. Only downside is its a bit pricey. But I will find a way..

This amp can do ANYTHING! I mean anything. Stacked up against my guitarists Marshall DSL 100 this amp kills. Not only does it have 3 separate and VERY distinct channels, each of those channels change drastically with the Boost button. So it's more like 6 channels. And holy crap is the sound unreal! And by the way, being able to switch from 100 watts to 30 watts is so handy. Not to mention the XLR out for silent recording. Is there anything this amp cant do? Nope... Even has a master presence and resonance knob. A Solo Boost feature. Oh and independent reverb on each channel. Take that Marshall!

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
