The Fender® American Vintage II series presents a remarkably accurate take on the revolutionary designs that altered the course of musical history. Built with period-accurate bodies, necks and hardware, premium finishes and meticulously voiced, year-specific pickups, each instrument captures the essence of authentic Fender craftsmanship and tone.

By 1963, a new combination of tonewoods married the punch and focus of alder with the warmth added by a round-lam rosewood fingerboard, enhancing the signature Tele twang. Featuring Pure Vintage '63 Telecaster pickups, triple threaded-steel saddle bridge and a comfortable "C"-shape maple neck, the American Vintage II 1963 Telecaster reproduces the quintessential tone and feel of the original. Characteristic of production in 1963, this Tele features clay dots (narrow-spaced at the 12th fret), a 7.25" radius fingerboard fingerboard and is offered in three colours: Crimson Red Transparent over mahogany and 3-Colour Sunburst or Surf Green over alder.

The instruments in the American Vintage II series are direct descendants of the original Fenders: designed for players with a fine appreciation for vintage Fender tone and feel and built with unmatched quality, down to the last screw. These are Fender electrics in their purest form: Fender American Vintage II, the stuff of legends.

I just received delivery of an American Vintage II Tele in Crimson Red Transparent and I have to say that it’s just incredible. Beginning with the appearance, The slab mahogany body is striking. Not a single blemish front or back and the rosewood fingerboard is dark with a beautiful grain complimented by the clay fret markers. Upon taking it out of the case immediately fell in love with the neck profile. So much so that I played it for two hours before I even plugged into an amp. But when I did, wow! Plugged into my Harvard and tweed deluxe (Ab/y) it was Steve Cropper and Muddy Water’s exact tone. Buy one! Thanks to Norik @Burlington L&M Always a pleasure chasing guitars with you!

What else is there to say other than that it's an incredible guitar? Not only does it fully capture the vintage 1963 specifications, but its sound is truly exceptional. The craftsmanship, feel, and overall quality are astonishing, and I doubt I'll ever consider parting ways with this guitar. Additionnally, considering the price point, I believe it offers an unbeatable value. Buying a custom guitar of similar quality and sound would likely cost more than triple the price and would not necessarily be better. I particularly love the vintage twang sound that this guitar produces and I have to admit that it handles overdrive magnificently, should you require it. As for Long & McQuade, their service is amazing. While I used to make purchases in Laval, QC, I've recently moved and experienced an outstanding service at the Kanata store in Ottawa.

When Fender did this series of American Vintage II guitars, I don’t think they intended to make people wonder, “why would I pay more than double to get a Custom Shop?” - but that’s the truth.
I’ve owned an FCS Nocaster, a 68 Paisley NOS Tele, and a heavy relic CuNiFe Tele. Only the CuNiFe comes close to my ‘63 AVII Tele - and with the CuNiFe pickups coming in April, there goes the slim advantage. The CuNiFe Tele was also $6800…
This ‘63 American Vintage Tele in surf green is outstanding. There is no other way to describe it. The pickups are great - although I will be tempted by hotter ones, they are warm but have bite. The C neck is closer to a thin necked D; I have smaller hands, and I was concerned I wouldn’t get along with the neck. No way - it’s awesome. One thing I wish Fender would have done is satin finish, but a quick sand will kill that gloss on the neck.
Setup from the factory was near perfect for me; the action is fast, intonation spot on, and fit and finish superb.
Nitrocellulose lacquer at this price point really is the nail in the Custom Shop debate. And, to be fair, I played an FCS Tele against this one, and there was no way I could justify the price - I can get TWO for the price of one.
Custom pickguard is on the way, because, at this price, why not? 60s retro vibe is fun. Canadian company has a billion choices that fit perfectly.
Case is retro nice, too; the orange interior is straight out of 63.
If you haven’t picked one of these up yet, run - don’t walk. At $2899, they’re a steal.

Have had mine for 2 months, the Les Paul isn't getting played much because of it. Can't say enough about the pickups. Neck is warm with spank , bridge is dirty but not muddy. The Custom Shops i've played have nothing on this guitar. Almost seems silly to pay the extra when you've got a mirrored instrument from that era. The neck radius isn't for everyone but i personally like it. Can't wait to see the aging, especially surf green. Own to play or to collect, won't be disappointed.

This guitar is as close to Custom Shop quality as I've found in a factory made Fender guitar. The fit and finish were impeccable, the neck is perfectly crafted and easy to play. Love the vintage fretboard radius and Tapp vintage frets. The Pure Vintage 63 pickups are the quintessential Tele sound in my head. You'll be surprised when you play this one. The neck pickup sounds gorgeous and present, not overly dark. The bridge pickup is raunchy and raw but not harsh. Outstanding pickups. This is as close to vintage accurate that Fender has come, in sound and finish, for non-Custom Shop guitars. Even the case is vintage accurate! Plus... Surf Green with Rosewood Board and aged clay dots....heavenly. This is the most resonant and acoustically loud Tele I have ever played. I thought 50's ash tele's with maple boards were the only true examples....but this alder tele with rosewood board is the most pure sounding Tele I've played. More tele than the tele-est tele that has ever tele'd. And the sustain is unreal. Try one out, you might be surprised. I absolutely adore this guitar!

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.

Great Additions
