The Seagull S12 CH CW Spruce Sunburst sets itself apart from the norm with its intriguing Sunburst finish and snug, yet dynamic-sounding Concert Hall body shape (CH). Much like some of the other 12-strings in the Seagull line, tuning up and staying in tune is a cinch, thanks to the renowned Seagull tapered headstock for increased string tension stability, and the easy-to-use integrated tuner. The solid spruce top is finished with a shimmery gloss-top for a lasting luster, while the wild cherry back and sides maintain a more satin look and feel. Along with the electronics and its generous cutaway access, this guitar is ideal for performance-driven playing on any stage or studio setting.

I am so happy I purchased it. So happy I will be buying a S6 asap. I was a dedicated fan of another brand for 55 years, not anymore. There is no better sounding 12 string out there. Proud its a Canadian Product!

I bought the S12 and returned a Yamaha 12 string. The S12 has the on board pickup and it relays pretty authentic sound. I've found Robert Godin to be correct; I can hang this guitar on my wall for two weeks and it barely goes out of tune. It's a deeper tone than the Yamaha because of the different tone woods used which I love. Plays well with little needed in set up. It does have a wide neck but I've long fingers; good fit for me. I made a clear lexan pick guard for it to show off the sun burst finish. I'm very pleased!!

I've played guitar for decades; however never really paid attention to 12-strings even though I admit I love the sound of them. I was able to play one of these guitars on a whim while in a shop somewhere and it immediately grabbed ahold of me with it's comfort and sound and I found myself thinking about it for weeks afterward. So, I ordered one and Seagull does not disappoint. It has the look of an old Gibson with that teardrop burst finish and the concert hall body makes it super comfortable for me to play (I admit I dislike the larger acoustic bodies for this reason). It has a lovely balanced tone, even with the 80/20 strings I put on it, and the sound is nice and tight. The back and sides are layered; however at this price point there are going to be trade-offs. Fortunately I actually like the added bite that I find laminate provides so no complaints, and the solid spruce top opens up nicely and makes the most lovely sounds. The neck and action were very good out of the box, but a bit of attention during its first set-up made it perfect. A minor complaint would be the pickup system, which is the PreSys II---a piezo system like this is serviceable, and to be expected at this price point; however, it does remove nearly all the character of the acoustic instrument and sounds very artificial to my ear. I fixed this aftermarket with a Fishman rare earth mic blend soundhole pickup with excellent results. It sounds amazing. As is typically my experience with Seagull, you're getting an instrument here for a killer price that hits way above its weight.

I have been intrigued by the 12 strings for a bit but was concerned with the tuning challenge that everyone speaks of with the 12 strings guitar. My research on Seagull guitars lead me to believe that they were so much easier to keep and tuned. Well, it is true. For the past month, i had to do very little tuning and I absolutely love this beautiful guitar. The tones and stays are magical and keep on inviting more play. I feel like I want to learn more and be to the standards of this amazing instrument. Ps; one interesting benefit of the 12 strings guitar is how easy on the fingers. Love it.

I had never owned or even played a 12 string but something about this guitar just spoke to me. I had an S6 dreadnought years ago and the quality of it was extremely good. I had to order the S12 unseen and untested so naturally I had my share of angst over it. I needn't have worried! This is an amazing instrument and I would not hesitate to tell anyone that it is worthy of just about any player. I was fortunate to get it before the price increase hit, but even now I would consider it a bargain and easily stands with "other" brand names at double the price. The action on the guitar was simply beautiful right out of the box, and the playability as well as the sound far exceeds anything I could have hoped for. A good tuning once i got it home and a couple tweaks once some break-in time on it and it's stable and the tones are fantastic. Unplugged it's full and bright, deeply warm and resonant without being overly boomy. Electronics are very nicely balanced, and played through the acoustic channel of my Katana 50 it is rich and powerful with a presence that is hard to ignore, but not overbearing. Seagull/Godin (Canadian made) build quality is superb, and that is a big part of the reason I picked this guitar, and there is certainly no disappointment there at all. As always, Tim and the rest of the crew at Highlands were super to deal with all the way through.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
