"I have played -- and loved -- ensembles from the time I was little! Playing with friends and family was so much fun! I wrote Four Pipers for my students but must admit that as a child I loved to play works with a drone (bagpipe-style) bass line -- hence the piper idea. It is interesting to note that my son began playing the bagpipes as a young man and now my nephew has begun studies too. I do love to hear them in wide open spaces." - Debra
