C.A.Seydel Sohne Nonslider Chromatic De Luxe Steel Harmonica - Key of LC

4 models to choose from:
The Nonslider Chromatic De Luxe Steel Harmonica is equipped with a newly designed mouthpiece that opens up many new possibilities for the players to play chromatically, no matter if they have played chromatic harmonica or diatonic blues harmonica before!
The Nonslider Chromatic is a very reliable instrument that is virtually maintenance free. 48 tuning stable, stainless steel reeds guarantee a great sound and a long playing pleasure. Furthermore, stuck valves or a jammed slider are things of the past. With the help of the newly developed double-row mouthpiece, the semitones are reached simply by tilting the instrument. A slight angling down or up is sufficient to reach all chromatic notes by directly playing the corresponding holes on the respective row. The notes on the lower row of holes are the same like in the "slide-pressed position" on standard chromatic harmonicas. The instrument is tilted down or up, or the player changes the position of his lips (pointed-mouth technique/lip-pursing) to reach the right notes.
The Nonslider Chromatic opens up great new playing options, which you have been looking for unsuccessfull so far with chromatic harmonicas so far! The valves typical for chromatic harmonicas have been removed completely. This makes techniques playable that are otherwise only known from the Blues Harmonica.

Finally I could play chromatic without a slider and what a clean, full and loud sound my nonslider-Sydel delivers!
No valves and no slider makes its construction very air tight and compact. Top sound quality.
However, a challenge is that I needed to re-train in order to play this harmonica (my challenge was to move-slide my mouth faster on the nonslider mouthpiece). Another challenge is that it's a little heavy compared to my other (non Sydel) chromatic tremolos. But I wouldn't complain given that the instrument is compacted with stainless steel and silver? reeds.
Limitation: the three full octaves in the C are not in a range that I prefer (I used to play chromatic with lower octave range). Nevertheless, Sydel is offering a Low C model which i am planning to buy now. Yet with only 'three' octaves for 'any' NonSlider, I wish Sydel would offer four octaves NonSlider!
Finally I love the semi-transparent beautiful orange color of the comb! This is my main harmonica now.

This is a well-designed and very well made instrument, and I looked forward to getting mine. I wanted to be able to play chromatic (I have several) while strumming my guitar.
However, it turns out that there's no easy transition from slider to non-slider, and the learning curve, for me, is perhaps too long. Suppressing muscle memory to get sharps and flats does not come easily! I'm waiting for a Gecko harp holder, which may improve my relationship with this new instrument, but I'll still need a LOT of practice to make it sound anywhere like I hope it will.
