- The first movement should be played with the strength and poise inherent in the term maestoso.
- The second movement requires sustained rhythmic "drive".
- The third movement requires the feel for "natural" music such as the "blues". No need to hurry. It should project something personal as through it was being improvised. The pauses and silence are as much a musical component as the sounds.
- The Finale should be just that. A brief display of brilliance and light to terminate that work.
