When Steve Vai teamed up with Ibanez in 1987, little did he realize what a lasting impact his signature model guitar would have. • Jatoba Fretboard w/Tree-of-Life inlay - Jatoba has a reddish brown color which produces a rich mid range with a crisp high end.
• Wizard III Maple Neck - Ibanez's thin, flat and fast Wizard neck is strong and sturdy and offers unlimited playability and features a two-octave 24-fret fretboard for a wide tonal range.

It is always buzzing as I play. If I have the locking nut on it buzzes. I tighten it all the way it still buzzes. If I take off the locking nut it still buzzes. Although there is a lot of cool things about this guitar like the inlay on the neck, the floating bridge, and the locking nut. I feel like all of that stuff your paying for is look and not quality.

My friend got this Guitar for me, and it is awesome! Right out of the box, it was well setup, plays like butter. The pickups are actually very good, I don't think I would change that. Finish is great! The trem system is not the best (that's the only reason I bumped off 0.5 stars for quality), but that is to be expected for this price range, but it is definitely usable! Pickups are very well balanced, pretty hot, and sings with a vocal quality (a lot of Steve Vai sound). The positions 2 and 4 produce a very unique single coil sound, that grows on you for clean stuff. The volume drops quite a bit in these positions, which is actually useful to go into a rhythm mode. The neck is slim. This is my first wizard III neck and I love it! Definitely helps with the speed shreddy stuff for sure! Legato runs, sweeps, etc. feel easier for sure. Slides feel better as well thanks to the well rounded jumbo frets. Love the inlays! To me those are like Steve Vai is sitting near me and guiding me to play better! Get this. This is a no brainer for any guitar player.

My brother bought this for me as a gift and it's a treasured guitar in my collection for sure. The mahogany body on mine (2018 model I believe) is very resonant and all the great details that a Jem is known for at a great entry point. I'm not into Vai's music personally but appreciate the type of products he's put his name behind and as a child of the 80's I always considered the Ibanez Jem the pinnacle of cool. Pickups were decent sounding but I super charged mine with a Dimarzio D Activator in the neck, Super Distortion S in the middle and an X2N in the bridge with a 1meg pot for volume. Frets were sharp on the higher end of the fretboard and I had my local custom shop smooth out the rough spots while upgrading pickups. I've got a white model also upgraded and wouldn't mind a yellow to complete the trio.

Great guitar! Went with the bright pink model. Really love that the pickups match the body. Tremolo bridge is pretty decent, but not perfect. Then again, at this intermediate price point it's kinda hard to get a "perfect" tremolo bridge. I like the cable, although I have enough cables already so that will just be my spare cable.

Don't believe the haters - this lovely lil' git is one of the best looking guitars available for under $1K. Sure you could get the non-sig Ibanez without the vine inlay and monkey grip for less money but then you'd miss out on the awesome vine inlay and monkey grip! It's only an extra hundred bucks, don't be a cheapskate! It also came with an angled cable which was a nice surprise. It was set up pretty well right out of the box too, just needs some minor tweaking. My only gripes are: 1) The finish on the grip and input is rough as others have said but not a big issue and 2) I wish it had the marble pick guard of the JEM Sr but that's an easy $30 upgrade. Overall very happy with the JEM Jr.

Picked this up on a private deal and have totally fallen for it!! stays in tune, sounds great for what it is! moving forward i may change out the floyd( rumor has it the ibanez version tends to wear out faster than most) but for now its exactly what i want at a very reasonable price!! and its going to be a great place to start modding from! Dont hesitate to get one, you wont regret it

This is a fantastic guitar. I bought it when the price was $729, and now at a price of $679 (on June 8th 2017) I consider that a great price for a quality instrument. The only things i don't particularly like are the humbucker pickups and the bridge. The humbuckers are a little muddy and not the best, the single coil was actually a really good pickup. The bridge's trem block is very tiny and the movement of the arm feels cheap, you have to try it to understand. It stays in tune perfectly, neck feels great paint is perfect. a very good guitar as is or an excellent modding platform.

So this is my third review about this guitar. When I first bought it I was excited, I loved it because she looked beautiful and almost played perfectly. Almost, because of some fret buzz issues no matter how I set the action. The solution would of been a new nut slightly higher then what this guitar comes with for they are to low on this guitar and also this particular guitar had a bad fret job where you could see someone tried to do some work on it(dents in the neck by the side of the frets) which tells me this guitar was pre owned, I hope it wasn't their luthier who could of done a job like this but who knows? My experience with music stores and their staff nowadays is mediocrity and they are never really that knowlegeable of gear and/or repair for my taste. Its frustrating when you know about guitars and the staff tells you to get your neck adjusted, like that's the only solution they know, assuming that they play guitar in all fairness. Anyhoop! Not having any spare nut in the store that I can mesure, compare and fit on my neck I just swapped the darn thing for another one they had in the back, tuned it, set it up and it's much better. Perfect? No... Still a few minor issues, a few fret buzz here and there but only if not properly balanced and not as bad as before. Although the fret job is so much better and cleaner on this one it's still not up to par with the great reviews I keep seeing everywhere on you tube so I wonder just how honest these videos are. A bit disappointed because for a guitar that is considered cheap or introductory level she's not that cheap as far as money goes, 850$ once you hit the taxes isn't cheap. I've tried cheaper Ibanez guitars where the quality control is far superior so I don't know what gives and what incentives are behind these guitar companies nowadays? Well I'm happy I swapped it because now I have something better then decent and with all the upgrades I'm putting into it she'll be better then good but almost awesome! T' ill then I still got my Fender Strat if all fails. I hope this review is honest enough for y'all because I can't stand bull shit!..

Bought one, played it for twenty five days couldn't get rid of a fret buzz issue on the lower E string no matter how high I set the action but then the action was getting to high for my taste when the buzz was finally sort of gone. The problem for this particular guitar when problems arise are fret buzz, I noticed the nut is really low on these guitars but hey I brought it back and swapped it for another one, it was that or change the nut but I couldn't wait and have the part ordered blah, blah, blah so I swapped it. Problem solved, great guitar! I think one in ten guitars of this model will have this problem. So if this occures with you, just change the nut for a higher one or swap it making sure to play it first then you'll see its a very good guitar for the price range.

I am just about at the end of my thirty day trial if you will and I have mixed feelings, I like the guitar, I think she's worth it but I might have to exchange it for another one. My particular guitar has a fret buzz issue that won't go away no matter how I set the action and you can tell this guitar was worked on by either the store or a previous owner because of filing marks on the neck near the frets, I'm not to happy towards the store about this one... Always play and check the guitar before leaving the store folks my mistake was to walk in (they had it waiting on the counter wrapped up nicely in its box) and leave without thinking twice about it, because I have tried this model in other places with no issues this is not necessarily a bad review about the guitar itself... Will trade for another Jem Jr...

Bought this guitar from Brampton location. Since owned in past Jem, this guitar is not far from way more expensive counterpart. Plays amazing, granted tremolo is difficult to set up but once you finally do u can abuse it on so many ways and still stays in tune. Volume and pickup selector could be better quality but not big deal. For price you cant get better guitar. Must add that Brampton location staff are extremely nice and helpful. recommend this location to friends and family.

Purchased this guitar a little over two weeks ago. I have owned a jem in the past and always regretted selling it. After hearing mixed reviews of the indonesian built ibanez guitars, i did a bit of research on thr Jr first. I am very happy to say this guitar is more than I had hoped for. Build quality and finish are fantastic. Parts are of good quality and over all produce what feels and sounds like a high end guitar. Some will want to swap out the trem, but I have had no issues with it. It's not as solid feeling as on some of the more expensive modles, but does it's job just fine. Pickups have a very nice tone and are very responsive. The neck and frets are very well finished. Inlays are set perfect and look great. I would highly recomend this guitar. A great value for money! Would also like to give props to the staff in the Bedford store. Excellent customer service.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.

Great Additions
