Great guitar. The absolute most powerful Humbucker guitar in the world. So its absolutely nothing for Stratocaster purists. But great great guitar.

This has been a dream guitar for me, and when I finally got it, I was ecstatic! Loved everything about this guitar: the 9.5 radius neck, the tbx control and the midboost. To me, this was perfect. Fast forward to 2.5 months later and the guitar is on its 2nd trip back to the shop. For some reason, it started to crackle after a month and a half. At first I thought it was my multi-fx pedal, so plugged it directly to the amp, still crackled after about 10 minutes of playing. What happens is the guitar would start fine but then after about 10 minutes, after I strum a chord or hit a "bassy' note, it would crackle or there'll be a static sound. It got so bad that in one of my band's rehearsals, I needed to change guitars. I plugged it directly to 3 different amps, in 2 different houses, even tried several guitar cords. Still it would crackle. L&M guitar tech couldn't find anything wrong and couldn't replicate the issue. I'm getting frustrated and disappointed as well. None of my guitars do this. I'm really hoping the issue is found and fixed as I really love everything about this guitar until the "crackling" started. If not, I will need to return it as no matter how I like it, I cannot be onstage with a crackling guitar.

EC is my biggest influence reason why I've been waiting for this guitar to be available. When it did, i did not hesitate to trade my American Pro 2018 and a Godin XTSA, plus a little bit of cash to take this home. Glad I did. I love everything about this guitar: the midboost, the TBX, the 9.5 radius and the noiseless pick ups. I got the lead and clean tones I have been searching for in this guitar. This is now my number 1, out of 5 guitars, bumping my MusicMan Axis to 2nd spot. Have gigged with this for around 6x now and everytime I hear myself on the videos, it makes me smile. This guitar will stay with me for a long time, probably all my life.

I ordered it sight unseen based on the reviews and the early models I remember from 1998. The V shaped neck is abit of a letdown comfort-wise but that is my personal taste. Takes different muscles to play it, and it is still a fine neck that most will like. How nice it would be to walk into a store, pick up the EC Strat and A/B compare it to a Fender American Ultra Telecaster, (Rosewood Fingerboard - Texas Tea). They are the same price and the features are unique to each. That way you can make an intelligent choice. Check out the Telecaster, I wish I might have made that choice, if I could have played both in the store. Like I would have at Guitar Center in Hollywood. In fact, I would suggest at this store keeping a few demos in the back room or in a VIP room. Staff was good and transaction was smooth,

I set the boost at 6, tone at 8 and run volume at 5 which takes out the brittle high end and smooths out the tone like a nice compressor. For solos, I increase the boost to 10 which keeps the tone but drives the amp a little harder. If you increase the volume, it pushes the boost a little too hard for me. It gets loud and gritty and a bit too distorted for the tunes I play. Watch EC on a few of his live tunes, and you'll see he does the same thing with the boost. Because this is blocked, it is pretty much a hardtail and plays like one. The fit and finish is great, and the neck is fast and comfortable with a modern 9.5 radius. The vintage style frets are not for everyone; they tend to be a player's preference, If you can, try before you buy.

This is my #1 at the moment. This thing will sing or chime and anything in between using the right amp/pedals. Not for everyone as the neck is V shaped, quite narrow and has tiny vintage frets.

Great guitar. This guitar has changed me from a tele to a strat guy, and it is now my go to guitar. Fit and Finish are top notch, and quality components used throughout. Tuner machines hold pitch very well, but it does take some getting use to for restringing at first, due to the type of machine head. Mid boost is a great feature, and the battery lasts a long time. Great finish on the guitar, looks great in pewter! One thing to keep in mind is the vintage frets. If you are not use to those fret profiles, I suggest you spend some time playing before you buy. Noiseless pickups are great. No complaints at all. Would recommend to any body. Just like any fender or gibson, you do pay a premium price, especially it being a signature model, but it has been my best guitar purchase regardless.

what a beautiful sounding and playing guitar. I am a huge Gibson fan but this guitar has made me a fender lover as well. I had a 2008 Strat Standard and the two can't compare in my opinion, other than the maple necks on a strat are remarkable.

Ok. I never thought I would buy a signature guitar but then I plugged this one in and fell in love with it immediately. The Fender Noiseless pickups have amazing clear tones with enough output to play any venue. I'm also fan of the mid-range boost which you'll find in the middle tone control. In my opinion, Fender hit a home run with this model based on Eric's setup. This guitar on a Fender Twin is as close to heaven as you will hear on earth. You don't have to keep the trem blocked neither, I didn't. The only negative comment I can make about this guitar is the 1-ply pickguard. Some may want something more sturdy. But hey, it's good enough for Eric Clapton so unless you're jamming with him, you should be able to live with it.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
