Free yourself from the signal chains of bondage. Emancipate yourself from the oppression of evil backline loaners. Liberate yourself from the tyrannies of over-loaded flight cases and stress of airport security. It is time. For you. To rock. In a free World.

Sleek, compact, and simply awesome, the gunmetal-finish Fly Rig 5 is a tiny tonal titan, a thoroughbred professional unit armed with sweet analog tones. Weighing in at just over 18 oz. and under 12 inches in length, you can rule the road, rehearsal or recording gig. No stinkin van, no heavy flight cases, no cable spaghetti, no dead weight.

With the Fly Rig 5, no arena is too large and no stage is too small. Just grab your guitar and tap into five must-have pedals in Tech 21's award-winning arsenal: a genuine SansAmp, a reverb, a delay, a powerful boost and the incredible Plexi distortion. All of this in a streamlined, rugged metal housing that will easily fit in your guitar case. There are illuminated mini-controls to show active status, an included power supply and studio-grade, metal footswitches and jacks. It's everything you need and nothing you don't.

With the functionality of a full pedalboard, minus the crackling patch cables, dying batteries and ground loops, the Fly Rig 5 is a simple step to the rich, expressive combinations you can use for any session. Even when you want to use the latest digital supercomputer or a vintage tube amp, the Fly Rig 5 covers your ass like yoga pants. It's the perfect instant back-up rig when your boutique gear goes down exactly when you need it most.

At its heart is the omnipotent, all-analog SansAmp --a ground-breaking amp emulator, speaker and mic simulator-- that will dial-in your favorite sounds for consistent tone every time. This version has been optimized for lush, chiming clean tones and has a Drive control to add just the right amount of gain from warm break-up to snarling grind, with an incredibly flexible 3-band EQ. The adjustable Reverb is also found in this section, voiced to create the rich ambiance of a vintage spring reverb without clattery pings, canyons of doom, or other annoying artifacts.

The roaring Plexi tone is the stuff of legend, with its muscular crunch, detailed mids and mule-kick low end. Providing the dirty side of the Fly Rig, the Plexi section produces exquisite, ripped-ab rock tones that can be kicked into Hot mode with up to 21dB of pre-amp gain. The Hot footswitch operates independently to boost any of the Fly Rig sections whenever you feel the urge to punch it up.

An inspiring delay section completes the Fly Rig 5. Voiced to emulate vintage tape echo, the DLA features a separate tap-tempo footswitch and adjustable tape drift-style modulation for authentic textures. From thickening slap-backs to deep cascading repeats, the DLA adds space and attitude.

Get the Fly Rig 5 and arrive at your next gig as easily as a happy, magical fairy --with face-melting guitar tones.

FLY RIG 5 SECTIONS AND FEATURES:

- SansAmp tube amplifier emulator, is pre-voiced for clean tones. It includes 3-band active EQ, Level,
and Drive to adjust the overall amount of gain and overdrive.

- Reverb, within the SansAmp section, is based upon the Boost RVB pedal. It emulates the rich ambiances of a vintage spring reverb without clattery pings, canyons of doom, or other annoying artifacts.

- Plexi, based upon the Hot-Rod Plexi pedal, brings in the organic distortion of a stock 68 Plexi and includes Level, Tone and Drive controls.

- Hot, within the Plexi section, kicks in up to 21dB of pre-amp gain. It can be used independently to
boost the SansAmp and/or DLA functions, as well as on its own to boost the gain of your amp.

- DLA is based upon the Boost DLA pedal. It is voiced to give you the sounds of a vintage tape echo
and features Level, Time, Repeats, and Drift, which adds a random element to the modulation for authentic textures. A dedicated Tap Tempo switch makes it super simple to just tap in the delay tempo you want during your performance.

- All analog signal path; reverb and delay are mixed in parallel.

- Get 5 must-have gigging pedals for 1/3 the cost at 1/3 the size, without sacrificing pro quality tone.

I could not believe the amazing tones that I can get from this. I got mine used on a trade. So glad I did. I mainly use it for my back up / grab n go / practice board ( I prefer stereo for my main board.) I plan to use it for recording as well. If you gig, get one of these...if your main rig goes down just pop this in straight to the board and you are back in business. Super value.

I Have tried various guitar set ups. Fender Twin with Various Pedals mic'd and that sounded great. I would break my back or various tubes carrying the twin around. So, I then tried the Helix and liked it but I was spending all my time on the computer trying to get a non ice pick tone and no time playing the guitar. I then tried a Boss ME80 and returned that. I went to the flyrig and plugged straight to board live. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED LOVED LOVED the tone and the control over the tome, without having to hunt through digital menus and submenus to make changes. If a tone doesn't sound good in a room, you bend over make a quick tweak and you are gold! I then added a few pedals with the flyrig and its my MAIN RIG! I go straight to board and I get the exact tone I always want. Id never go back to a stack Amp/Mic combo again.

It's hard to believe how good this sounds. Its inspiring to play through it. I have the Plexi. Came here to see if there's a bass fly rig. Want that too. Oh... the delay sounds good, but when the level gets too high, there's a bit of an artifact or something.... listen for that.

I've been looking for something as a backup to my regular rig. I looked at Boss Line 6,Digitech etc...all units seemed decent but I was looking for something that sounds good. Enter the fly rig. I was a little skeptical at first but running it through my computer or a flat response speaker this thing sounds great. Good enough to get through a gig if your main rig fails. I find the bottom end lacking and it does the rock or new country thing well but its definitely not for metal players . Maybe a pedal in the front would do the trick, I'll have to try it someday. Overall I'm happy with the unit and its so small and portable that its a no brainer. The reverb and echo are good and certainly enhance the sound. Two thumbs up !

Had a chance to plug into one of these at a local jam. Just the most crushingly sweet jazz clean tone I have ever heard out of anything, ever. Sparkle, definition, warmth... better than any tube amp I've ever owned or worked with. Very nice reverb when run direct into a PA as well. The mini knobs are not something I would have chosen given a choice.

I have seen a few reviews of this unit. I've seen a few people calling it 'noisy' (no more hiss than a comparable amp driven hard, as far as I'm concerned!) Someone called it "ill conceived" because the boost was before the gain stages, not after, where they could use it to 'turn the volume up' for their lead breaks (I believe the point is NOT to turn the volume up but to add an extra chunk of gain...if you plugged directly into a Marshall and drove the pre-amp, how would you 'turn the volume up' after the gain stage, dufus??) As far as I'm concerned, this unit does a brilliant job at it's designed purpose...as a compact fly rig. It's designed to give you a consistent sound no matter what backline or direct system you need to plug into when performing a fly gig! If you want more, buy a full-sized processor at double the money and 6 times the size. If you want a unit that simulates running straight into a couple of classic amps through a classic cabinet and miked by a classic microphone, along with a sweet-sounding tape-like echo and smooth reverb... all in a unit that fits into any guitar case or gig bag... look no further!! I was sold when I got so carried away with the sound in the local L&McQ, they had to come over and ask me to turn down!!

I had seen some info on it from this year's NAMM. So I rented one, I couldn't give it back. I play direct live, most of the time, so I needed a good amp sim. This does it very well. It also sounds real nice through my Deluxe Reverb Re issue The delay is nice, the Plexi section is great! The hot boost works great with my other pedals. The only thing that I find a bit difficult is, the small button controls, but I'll live with that any day for the quality of tones this little sucker produces!

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
