Unique new footswitches deliver twice the control of previous designs for efficient and intuitive effects switching, patch selection, and real-time sound shaping while playing on stage. The free BOSS TONE STUDIO software unlocks even more tonal possibilities, providing a cool graphical interface for tweaking and organizing sounds on your computer, plus a web connection to BOSS TONE CENTRAL for direct access to free gig-ready patches created by top pro guitarists and much more.

A Huge Selection of BOSS Effects in One Pedal
No matter what style you play, its easy to craft your own personal sound with the ME-80s wide range of built-in effects. A complete history of gig-ready BOSS tone processing is at your command, from multiple overdrives and distortions to wahs, mod effects, pitch shifters, delays, and beyond. BOSS groundbreaking Multi Dimensional Processing (MDP) technology is represented with the unique, spacious ambience of Tera Echo and the distinctive tone-shaping possibilities of Overtone. Updated COSM preamps include new additions such as Crunch and Metal, plus an AC preamp designed for acoustic/electric guitar. The onboard expression pedal can be used for foot volume and pedal effects like wah, octave shift, and Freeze, and its also possible to control effects parameters such as mod rate, delay oscillation, and more for expressive real-time sound shaping.

Instant Gratification with Dedicated Knobs
Unlike typical menu-driven multi-effects processors that are complicated and unintuitive, using the ME-80 is as easy as using a stompbox. Effects are organized into eight logical categories that can all be active at the same time. Seven categories contain multiple effects types to choose from, plus dedicated knobs for selecting a type and adjusting it with a set of parameters youd find in the pedal version of the effect. The Pedal FX category has its own knob for quickly assigning a particular effects type or function to be controlled by foot with the expression pedal. With this familiar and friendly interface, youre able to dial up and play great tones instantly, just like using a large pedalboard filled with your favorite stomps. But a major advantage over that pedalboard is that you can to save all the current knob settings to one of the ME-80s 36 user patch locations, allowing you to recall custom effects configurations at the touch of a pedal.

Stompbox Immediacy or Multi-FX Power: You Decide
The hands-on experience that stompbox control provides is perfect for tweaking tones as you go. However, there are times when switching among an entire group of preset effects is more efficient, such as when youve set up complex tones for different songs. The flexible ME-80 supports either approach, giving you the best of worlds. In Manual mode, the categories function like individual stomp effects, with instant adjustment via the panel knobs and on/off control with dedicated footswitches. By entering Memory mode, seven footswitches are automatically reconfigured to select user or preset patches and patch banks, letting you recall complete multi-effects setups directly. One footswitch on the ME-80 is dedicated just for mode switching, so you can toggle between Manual and Memory modes any time you want, even in the middle of a song.

New Footswitch Design Delivers Twice the Control
The ME-80 offers easy usability while performing, with eight multifunction footswitches for direct control of effects on/off, bank/patch selection, and mode switching, plus convenient access to alternate functions such as tap tempo, tuner, looper control, and more. A special control (CTL) function is also assignable in each patch, letting you toggle grouped effects on/off or adjust a specified parameter in real time. The newly developed footswitch style provides two switches in the space occupied by one in previous designs, allowing BOSS to equip the ME-80 with a generous array of foot-operated controls while keeping the unit extremely compact and mobile. In addition to the eight main footswitches, the expression pedal is equipped with an integrated toe switch that toggles between foot volume and the current Pedal FX setting.

USB Audio/MIDI Interface Built In
Via USB, you can connect to your computer and capture the output of the ME-80 directly into your favorite DAW to record pro tones with COSM preamps and effects. Its also possible to monitor the ME-80s effects sound while recording an unprocessed signal into a DAW track; after the fact, use the USB Loopback function to re-amp the dry track with the ME-80, tweaking the knobs as you listen to the song to capture the perfect tone. MIDI transfer over USB is also supported, allowing you to select ME-80 patches from your computer, send expression and control pedal data into your software, and swap patches via BOSS TONE STUDIO.

Edit and Organize Tones and Connect to the Web with BOSS TONE STUDIO
Available as a free download, the BOSS TONE STUDIO application provides an inviting graphical interface for tweaking the ME-80s effects from your Mac or Windows computer through USB. The software makes it easy to save, edit, and organize your patches, and to load them into the ME-80 as needed for different gigs and other applications. If your computer has Internet access, BOSS TONE STUDIO also provides an integrated connection to the BOSS TONE CENTRAL website, allowing you to preview and download gig-ready patches created by top guitar pros directly into your ME-80! In addition to expanding your palette of tones, these free patches provide solid foundations for creating your own patches with the ME-80s extensive array of effects.

BOSS TONE CENTRAL: Your Web Home for Free Patches, Instructional Vids, Artist Tips, and More
BOSS TONE CENTRAL is the ultimate destination for all players that use BOSS guitar and bass gear. The initial focus of this powerful new web portal is on the ME-80, but compact stomps and other BOSS multi-effects will be included as the site grows. Don't get me wrong - I love the look and usability of this unit. But, let's be honest. In the era of digital effects processors like the Pod Go, this thing is a dinosaur and should be extinct. I've purchased and owned it for a bit but after a while I had to sell it as I didn't see the value of it.
First of all, the tuner is really bad and unless you only use a fixed bridge guitar, it's quite hard to tune a floating bridge guitar on this as the tuner doesn't show enough precision. Secondly, THERE IS NO CAB EMULATION ON THIS AT ALL! Unless you plug directly into an amp or a powered cab, the sound just doesn't cut it at all if you use it with regular speakers or headphones. On top of it all, Boss was too cheap to include a power adapter with it. Slap in the face right there. It's not like this thing runs on a USB charger which we all have many of at home or can buy for $5. It's just unforgivable. By the time you get a proper tuner pedal, a cab emulation pedal, and a power adapter, you're gonna pay more for it than what a Pod Go costs, and in my opinion that's a WAY more advanced unit than this. I'm not trying to sell you on the Pod Go, you can go for other modelers but I'm saying this unit is missing crucial features AND is using Boss's old modeling technology and not the new AIRD technology found on the GT1000 which sounds significantly better. If this doesn't bother you, then sure go ahead and get it. I just think that this should cost half of what it does considering all the pitfalls it has compared to its competition.

This is easy to use and I bring it to my outdoor gigs, its tough. I got an Eric Johnson tone on it and that sold me. That is a very hard tone to get, he uses a ton of effects to get that violin sound. This unit can give you that with some tweaking. It can give you really good chug metal, and great country settings. For clean acoustic or clean electric works great too. I put my drum machine into the auxillary in and connect the output to my looper. One man band, look out. Knobs beat menus. Brilliant gear

I hate pedals..I hate plugging things in and then they fail in the middle of a tune. Its so great when you can preset everything and then go to it when you need it.If you are fronting a band singing and playing guitar you don't need to have things go wrong.Nothing worse then a musician messing around with his pedals during a show it looks really bad.Set them up ,save them and go.I rarely change anything night to night. Its so easy to use.It saved my life at many festivals when the stage house amp was horrible and most are..You can always get your sound. All the FX are really good.I have an old ME 50 that I've used for 20 years also. Its never failed me.Check one out.

Marshall DSL40 CR , Gibson Les Paul w/ pearly gates. Not a "great" player, needed something to open up my sound. Tried plenty of the multi effects pedals from all makers but all missed something. Rented this ME 80, went back 2 days later and purchased it. Easy to use and beautiful sounds. Can now get my CHUG on....

WYSIWYG- what you see is what you get! In the age of modern displays on effects processors, the Boss ME80 stands out as an old dinosaur looking, reminiscent of old synthesizers with many knobs. For me personally this is a plus as I dont want to go through a battery of menus and sub menus to set up a tone i like. Sure, this processor is slightly less versatile than an equivalently priced Zoom G5n, but the BOSS is so easy to use, intuitive and quick. The build quality is amazing. I absolutely adore it and would definitely recommend it. For computer connection it installs instantly and the software is also very easy to use. My past processor was a line6 pod (bean) so this is a nice upgrade. I think it has all the effects I'll ever really need. I just wish BOSS wasn't so cheap and include a power supply, but other companies are guilty of that as well.

After years of using only distortion, chorus and reverb I decided to start collecting pedals. I soon realized it was going to get very expensive so I started looking at multi effects pedals and modeling amps. After much research I set my sights on the Boss ME-80. I sold what pedals I had and took the plunge and I am so happy I did! The versatility and tones you get for the price are amazing! I went from 3 effects to 72 effects for just over $400. Can't beat that kind of deal. I've read reviews for multi effects pedals where they say, "it has every tone but the one you are looking for". Not the case with the ME-80, I found my tone and so many more!

I'm really impressed with this unit. It's the most user friendly multi I've ever used. Having dedicated knobs makes it easy to dial in your tone on the fly. My only wish is that the looper could record longer. But for the price, this board is hard to beat.

The minute i started using this Boss ME80 i knew i like it. Not being gadget savvy myself, it was super easy to learn. Everything is labled and laid out. Just turn the knobs and click on and off. It has all (most) the Boss' pedal effects. I use the overdrive, blues drive and distortion, they are just like the real Boss stomp boxes. The phaser and flanger are the classic ones. But the best thing is, that this multi effect has built in pre amps. From Fenders to Vox amd Marshalls. Often im in the gig where no reliable amps are available. No worries, i just connect my ME80 to the PA and turn on the preamp. Only thing i am not happy is, this unit doesnt have effect loop out. So if it works best in clean amp or no amp.

Bought this when it went on sale around Christmas time...this replaced my ME50, took a little time to get used to the subtle differences....but wow....almost any tone is achievable. Overdrives and distortions are much better than previous Boss multi pedals. Looper is a excellent addition. My only complaint is the volume pedal. Its smaller than my ME-50 and not near as rugged. Just something I have to get used to. But all in all was more than happy with the purchase.

I use the Boss me-80 and it is an awesome solid tool. I run it through a Marshall jmd:1 . Lots of custom tones and fx combos easily programmed or ready on the fly in a live setting or studio recording. It is not as expensive as other brands but it does compete with its quick user friendly format and instant available options that cater to a fast creative workflow. A great quality and price for a low budget. I have been financing gear at Long -Mcquade for 20+ years. My #1 choice for all my musical gear needs . Always great deals, excellent friendly knowledgeable helpful staff. You can hear the boss me 80 guitar multi FX unit used in many of these studio session recordings : https://www.reverbnation.com/symphonicnv

After dumping my Boss multi effects unit in the early 90's I swore I'd never go back and I used nothing but stomp boxes since then. It took this long but when I saw the ME-80 I was cautiously optimistic. The fact that I could operate it as individual stomp boxes or programed patches was great, but would the sounds be up to snuff? I've never been a fan of Line 6 distortions and didn't know what I was going to get from the Boss unit. One test drive removed all doubt. The amp Sims and distortions and over drives sound just like the stomp boxes. The reverts delays modulations sound great. The harmonizer tends to get lost on 3rds but cripes so does the stomp box lol. Everything is so well thought out that I have a hard time coming up with my usual niggles when it comes to reviewing a piece of gear. You usually always wish a unit like this did something extra or different but this thing does things I never even though of like the pickup Sims which sound great and are very useful. I'm sure this was designed or had high input from a gigging musician! I could not be happier!

If you have an half decent amp, this is the pedal for you. I have owned a Digitech RP350, a Digitech RP500 and a Line 6 M13. this beats them all. While the Line 6 was easy to program as it had no amp simulation, the DIGITECH products were complicated and needed a lot of hours to understand. Some of the Line 6 effects left a lot to be desired, especially the modulations. The ME 80 is intuitive, logical and the downloads available are abundant and you will find something for everyone's taste. I can program the pedal to turn my Fat 50's pick ups on my Strat into humbuckers if I want to. I am 53 years old and find this easy to run and program without looking like I am tap dancing on my pedal board. Sold all my analogue pedals including my Wamplers, MXR, TC Electronic etc, with no regrets. Manual mode and patch mode work equally well. You can use Manual Mode as 7-8 individual pedals or in User mode as a live set list. Way less complicated than the GT 100 , but has most of the patches from that unit. Great service from Randy and Blair.

After trying out several other multi-boards (Line 6, DigiTech, Zoom), I settled on this BOSS ME-80. Some of the others may have a few more gadgets, but scrolling through screens and trying to learn all of the technical aspects of running them is clumsy and painful. The BOSS rig takes all of 20 minutes to figure out, as everything on the board is laid out in an easy-to-understand, common-sense fashion. A "shout out" to Brian at the Halifax L&M for excellent service.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
