My first Gibson! After 4 attempts on other brands, this is the one. Always wanted one but felt wasn’t good enough player to warrant the purchase. Couldn’t wait till I was an accomplished player, at 65 time not on my side. Tried some ok quality imports, Chinese/Mexican built but just not excited about them. This Les Paul studio guitar caught my eye, had to hold it, immediately knew it was the one. The quality of fit and finish as well as hardware is the first thing I noticed. No wonder it’s so prevalent everywhere. The faux leather semi rigid case is sewn like an aviator jacket…very impressed, the overly large stitched “Gibson” logo on it is a bit to much in your face for me. I plan on getting a Gibson hard case for home storage as it’s reasonably priced. Yeah another reviewer mentioned the poker chip toggle guard no longer used on the these studio’s, i would have preferred a cream one to match the pickguard, L&M looking into getting me one but might need additional toggle switch mounting hardware, hopefully there’s a easy way to have this option. I must say L&M had a lot of patience with me and because of this bought my acoustic there as well. For the price it was well worth it, and it holds its value a lot better than the imports. But most importantly, it inspire me to play, no regrets.

A fantastic guitar. The fit and and finish is flawless and it feels and plays like only a Gibson Les Paul does. I love Les Paul guitars, this is my third one and it’s still very special. I play it threw Marshall and ENGL heads and a ENGL 412 XXL cab and the tone is so awesome you would only believe it if you were in the room. This might be my favourite Les Paul it’s as vicious and aggressive as you want it to be or if you clean it up the tones are just beautiful. The only one little thing that isn’t perfect is the stupid poker chip for the switch comes not installed on the guitar. I tried to put it on and there isn’t enough thread on the switch to install it. Slightly annoying but no big deal. The guys at the Guelph L&M said no prob and would get that rectified for me. This group of people regularly go out of their way to assist me and it’s awesome. Thanks to Orian, Ben, and Stevie you guys rock and make that shop the best L&M experience possible, the knowledge, experience, and honesty is in abundance at Guelph Long and Mcquade and that’s why I choose to do business there. Thanks for getting me my new favourite guitar!

This was my first Les Paul and started my journey from being a Fender guy for over 20 years. Because of this guitar I have now purchased two more Les Paul’s both of which are much more expensive. The odd thing is that is guitar sounds just as good, and plays just as nice. It may be missing some of the cosmetic things like bindings, but it is not missing the sound. If you are looking for a great way to introduce yourself to a real Les Paul, but don’t mind not having some of the cosmetic features this is the guitar for you. This guitar is played regularly in my rotation and is worth way more then the sticker price in my opinion.

Love the push/pull volumes (coil-tap), able to great a lot of tone of the 490R and 498T pickups. Love the Ultra-modern weight relief. The weight is similar to a Fender Stratocaster. Easier for me to stand and play for longer periods of time. Other than those specs, it has most if not all the features of your standard Gibson Les Paul. The quality is well considering it's a Studio model. The wiring is clean which is sometimes a hit or miss with Gibson guitars and guitars in general. It stays in tune well and plays well, just needed a fresh factory spec set up and the right tension/gauge strings. I got a good deal on this guitar, so the value for it to me is remarkable. In a few more years, this guitar will be worth alot more than what I paid for it. Overall it's a great guitar if you're for an affordable Gibson without compromising on quality and features.

Purchased one of these used to add to my collection and its a fantastic guitar, It sounds amazing, Great tone. Beautiful classic body. The only draw back of all Les Pauls is that its heavy but that solid body helps create that classic sound

So I rented this as I wanted to try out a Les Paul and man, you would have to be CRAZY to drop 2k on this thing! It sounds nice and has a good deal of variety in tones but nothing to warrant the massive price tag. Also has some fairly significant tuning stability issues and in my opinion there should be NONE of that if you are dropping serious cash on a guitar. The quality of the various parts seem to be mid range as well at best. I don't see any real substantial upgrade in quality between this and an Epiphone, you can find very nice once in the $500-700 range. Buy it used if you really like it, in my opinion. I really don't feel the magic in this thing, fairly sterile. Maybe Les Pauls just aren't for me.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.

Great Additions
