I had an Epiphone ES335 years ago, and sold it in a rush decision trade for a JCM 900 head that I had always wanted. It was an instant regret that I held for many years. Fast forward to last year, a used Inspired By Gibson Epiphone ES335 came into my local Summerside L&M shop that was only about 6 months old and had had Seth Lover Seymour Duncan pickups professionally installed when the guitar was bought new. It came with the original pickups as well when I bought it for a great price. It plays and sounds so good. Best quality guitar for the money. All the Inspired by Gibson guitars are top shelf.

I'm a chronic affordable guitar flipper and this has become my favourite electric I've owned. I keep seeing deals, but I just can't bear to part with this one. Tom did some fretwork and setup magic on it and it plays so well, better than others I've played in-store since! I've since oiled the fretboard again, raised the action a touch and lowered the pickups a bit and it's so good! I also added pointer plates and Gold top hat knobs for that 60s ES-335 vibe.

Bought this 335. Had one ten years ago but went to strictly acoustic so sold it, regrettably. Out of the box, the new guitar had a dry fretboard so frets felt very sharp. Needed a set up and took it back to L&M and had John do the set up. Joe did the fretwork, set intonation, adjusted neck, and tightened everything on this guitar. Picked it up today and have to say it’s MAGIC!!! Plays so well that I can’t put it down. I’ve been a musician for over 50 years and this still holds so much pleasure in playing a new instrument. Thanks to John for his technical expertise and Ryley for his outstanding customer service!!!

It's solid, it's gorgeous, it sounds so good. I was going to get a casino but they didn't feel too great. Lots of semi-hollows that sound great, this I found at a great deal though and couldn't say no. Everything I've ever wanted in a guitar!

A great guitar, had to adjust it to my taste but it's Ok, not a problem anyway. I love the sustain and the sound. Was thinking about upgrading the pickups but it sound good as it is. Just adjust the height of the pickups and enjoy it

I bought an Epi , inspired by Gibson ES 335, Raspberry Tea Burst and honestly, it was horrible fresh out of the box. The fretboard was dry as a popcorn fart, the frets were tarnished, there was no neck relief causing it to buzz and choke out all over and the intonation was way out in left field. I really thought I had made a big mistake but I took it to L&M for a proper set up and viola, it was a completely different story. This guitar is a joy to play and quite stunning to look at. The Alnico pro pups sound great especially when playing slightly overdriven. I also have a Gibson 335 and have to be honest, it’s far superior to the Epi but it also has a cost five times greater. Conclusion? The Epiphone ES 335 is “inspired by Gibson” as I am “inspired by Larry Carlton.” Alright but I’ll never be “Mr. 335.”

After owning both Gibson & Epiphone ES335 guitars in the past & not being 100% satisfied, I had my doubts about this new inspired by Gibson model. In the store it sounded not bad thru a Fender deluxe reverb amp, but not great either. I took a chance and at home in my studio the Roland Jazz Chorus 40 worked its magic & I heard an absolutely splendid guitar in all the pickup settings. Full marks. It was not perfect right out of the box; I had to adjust the intonation, lower action & neck relief. Having done that I marvel at the tone and build quality for the price. I do not miss my Gibson & this guitar is much improved over the earlier more Epiphone styled ES335's. Highly recommended if you dig the 335 sound.

Another great guitar from Epiphone. Love the looks and feel but most of all the sound through a Fender " Hot Rod " amp is amazing.

Wow, this guitar is amazing right off the shelf. Without changing a thing I would still love it.
I've always wanted to mod a guitar so for fun I put in a burstbucker neck pickup and a p94 at the bridge and it sounds incredible. I've heard that you can't put good pickups in a bad guitar and get a good result. But when you put good pickups in a great guitar, it can bring it to the next level!
I've even had a "Gibson only" friend who usually won't touch an epiphone admit that the guitar is great and played it a bunch whenever he gets the chance.
I'm sure that a Gibson es-335 could be fantastic depending on the QC. But for 99% of guitar players, I assure you this is a good buy. It is my main guitar moving forward.

I've owned my es335 by epiphone for over a year. Very happy with it!!
I plug into a Fender Mustang 1 Amp and the tones are great. I use headphones as I live in an apt. The sustain from both hi gain and clear tones is really good. I wish I had a Sun burst but the cherry finish is top drawer. Binding was done very well. Thanks to Rick at Long and McQuade London South the set up is also top drawer. A real good feel on your left hand on the neck.
I will be a fan of Epiphone as good quality guitars for a fair price.

Recently bought a Epiphone ES335 in Cherry and I am very happy. This is not a dig at L&M but I wish Epiphone would have added Natural as a color besides the Cherry and SunBurst in the Inspired by Gibson range. That said, I wanted a 335 for awhile and I am very happy..Thank you Long & McQuade, especially Healz! anyway, buy one, you will love it!

After 40 years of playing I finally decided to take the plunge on my dream guitar...but the Epi version! I played the $3800 Gibson big brother side by side, and while the Gibson obviously felt a little smoother and the pickups were a little more articulate, overall the differences were negligible! I may upgrade the pickups down the road but I'm in no rush. The Epi alnico pros are a step up! i've now purchased 3 Epiphone's in the last 5 months...(the other 2 are the '59 standard and TV yellow Special) and the build quality is just stellar. Buy one...you won't regret it!

I, like a lot of players, have wanted a Gibson ES 335 for a long time. I have Tele and Strats now. I tried a lot of 335s, new/used, and was never overwhelmed for a host of reasons. I think you know quickly if a guitar is going to be a good choice. Of course the price was a big factor. When I saw the news about the inspired by series I was sceptical. I had looked at the Epiphone options before. It seemed like a cosmetic change for more money. I then picked up a Cherry Red Inspired by Gibson at my local store and bought it. The overall quality is very good, it plays well and it sounds great. It’s also a great fit as I don’t have huge hands with a very comfortable neck. I gave it a five star review based on value for money and out of the box quality. I am really happy I elected to add an ES without spending the big money. The added bonus is you can beat it up and gig with it without worrying about it. I realize it is but it doesn’t feel like a compromise, it feels more like a good decision.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
