The MXR Carbon Copy Analog Delay Pedal features a completely analog audio path for the ultimate in rich, warm delay-made possible only by old-school bucket brigade technology. This design boasts an amazing 600ms of delay time with optional modulation via a top-mounted switch and a simple, three-knob layout that controls Delay time, Mix (dry/wet blend), and Regen (delay repeats)-all in a pedal no bigger than a Phase 90. In addition, the M169 pedal has two internal trim pots that offer user-adjustable width and rate control of the modulation for even more tonal options. The Carbon Copy effect pedal will take you from crisp "bathroom" slap echoes to epic, Gilmour-esque delays with a twist of a knob. True hard-wire bypass, single 9-volt operation, and stage-ready blue LEDs round out the package.

Sold this pedal once to pay for a guitar repair because at the time it was 1 of 2 pedals I had that were actually worth anything. I did not want to sell it but I had no choice at the time. I honestly thought I could live with out it and down the road some day I’d buy another one. I barely lasted a year, I really prefer analog echo/delay to digital and MXR really knocked it out of the park with this one using old school technology that doesn’t need changing. The MOD button is my simple but favourite feature about the pedal, with internal dials if you remove the back plate to adjust depth and rate. I have rate turned all the way down and depth cranked and it’s perfect. I set Regen and Delay to 12 o’clock and depending on what I’m playing or my mood I move the Mix between 10 & 11 or 1 & 2 o’clock. It’s perfect every time in the mix. I have tried so many other pedals and you can spends hours trying to find the right setting or tone, the Carbon Copy seconds to dial in a beautiful warm, rich delay/echo. I will never part with this pedal ever again!

This is a great pedal if you're after an analog, bucket brigade style delay.
The repeats are pretty dark so you get a nice, mellow sound. This won't do the bright, digital type delays, nor will it give you subdivisions or anything special like that. It's a simple, analog delay, and if that's what you need, this is the pedal to get.

I've had a carbon on my board since they started making these and it has been "on" pretty much ever since. For me, this is just the default delay to use unless you need some special application or multi-style delay. It has a beautiful, smooth, warm delay that sits behind your tone and doesn't interfere with what you are playing. It is well suited for soft, wet background delays on clean licks and is just magical for those 80's rock and prog solos. The solo notes just drop off into outer space and decay as smooth as glass.
The hidden secret is the "mod" button. I call it the "Randy" button. When you are ripping up some classic PAF tones, push this and it immediately gives you that Randy Rhoads chorus'y thing. This is a pedal you buy and never get rid of.

I am a beginner at guitar, and haven't played for very long. I plugged this in and played my current limited repertoire and was hypnotized.
The delay you can set on this can make even random notes sound absolutely beautiful. You can sound like David Gilmour or almost close to Peter Frampton haha.
This is worth it, but when you hold the box you sort of question if the price shouldn't be a bit lower due to how small it is, and the very few parts inside.

Take the time to set it up properly and you will be ready for hair raising solos that will give goose bumps to anybody listening to you. Went from a Boss DD3 to the Carbon copy, it took me a little while to get it dialed in but I couldn't live without it anymore.

I Currently use this pedal on my pedalboard and like the slight modulation you can add to it.
you can also adjust how much modulation it has by adjusting the knob under the back cover I pulled it back a little bit so it adds a slight wobble like effect to the repeat I would definitely recommend this for anyone looking to add some cool delay

Has been on my board for 16 months. Almost always on. Works like a charm. Solid build. No hum/hiss/buzz/whir when on, no discernible colouring of guitar in bypass. Warm, full and clean sounds. Carries the sound of my guitar/amp through all but the more extreme settings. The tweakability is very good for the price. The chorus mod is okay, a nice feature, but I have the MXR Analog Chorus, which is another great pedal and so much more than the mod.
Works great in the front of my Vox AC15C1, and plays really nice with my other pedals (SHOD, Rat, chorus). With the reverb and tremolo on the amp, the Delay can take me from swing to post rock, and to lala land on the more extreme settings.
BE CAREFUL with the Regen knob, and your string attack, it can generate feedback that can get away on you and fry your eardrums. But is really fun to tame.
I play an AM STD Strat with stock Fat 50 pups, so YMMV.

My first delay was an Echocord (yeah, I'm vintage too) and I'm drawn to to that soft, warm echo. The modulation on the echo gives a feel similar to the tape flutter on the old tape devices, actually better. Great for old Ventures stuff.

I can't do without this pedal. I have it on all the time in one way or another. Specifically good for that Dave Gilmour-ish sound. You can even manipulate a good, short reverb sound. I can't think of any style of music that wouldn't benefit from using it.

With analog delays, bucket brigade technology, and the brand that is already well recognized, the MXR Carbon Copy Analog Delay doesn’t disappoint. With its price point, it is an investment, but it’s not a temporary solve, it’s a permanent solution to all your delay uses. You can go from dreamlike chorus delays thanks to its outstanding mod, to slap reverb used in the 70s blues.
Although other brands may have more feature, this is what you’re gunning for!
Try one in your local Long and McQuade today!

This delay exceeds all other delays and all expectations. I used to own the boss delay and it was pretty decent but I almost never used it so I sold it. Recently I found myself craving to own a delay again and I am a big MXR endorser so I checked out the carbon copy and everything about it screams perfection nice warm analog tone with smooth regen and the simplicity of the pedal makes it perfect for any type of player and the modulation option tops this sweet pedal off with perfection

Over all, this is a good delay pedal, and is a lot more 'natural' sounding than most delay pedals I've tried and owned. By natural, I'm referring to or comparing it to an actual tape delay, such as a Roland Space Echo, or the Tube Tape Echo type machines. I use this in my pedal box along with, alternating between the Carbon Copy, and the Boss/Roland 'Space Echo' dual pedal. I feel personally that the Boss/Roland Space Echo edges the Carbon Copy out just slightly in terms of a 'natural' sound from a digital delay, but it's pretty close, and I use it on songs that I want a more 'over the top-ish' delay on, mostly for rockabilly/rock n roll/surf/hillbilly-ish type stuff, and at times, for a crazy over the top 'Cliff Gallup' type of slap back, I'll use both delays at the same time. I usually set the Carbon Copy a little more 'up' in the volume/mix wise, and use the Space Echo a little more subtly, so I have the ability to change or switch the slap back sound on particular songs in the set list on the fly, live etc. I haven't used the Carbon copy for very long delay sounds yet, or regularly but I'm sure it would do well going by the sounds I got from it when I first bought mine and was messing around with it, exploring its capabilities etc. It seems very solidly built, and you can't mistake that blinding blue light, you'll know when it's on for sure haha! For the price, this is a great delay, and should survive many sessions of stomping on it. If you can find one used and not abused, it's an even better deal. Check one out and see for yourself.

I agree with Jimmah Fro that this pedal lacks a few bells and whistles such as being able to set your delay by tapping however if you are looking for a warm, clean, honest delay in a small robust stomp box then this is it. I love the blue LED's and the Modulation Mode. Definitely a lot nicer sound than my brother's digital delay.

Has a dark, warm sounding sound to it. Kinda dirty with lots of character. Works good for slapback as well as long delay sounds. Simple and versatile. Not quite as feature packed as some other delays but has a great sound. Also the blue LED is blindingly bright. The modulation sounds good too. (But I don't use it much.) Overall one of the best anolog delays on the market atm imo.

My name is Adrian Blaney lead guitarist of Tracenine, gigging from Europe to USA.
I was looking for a delay pedal on my pedal board that was a little softer not as hard in the delay such as digital. My choices has alway been Boss or MXR so MXR it was to purchase. The Carbon copy
is small, bright Blue LED with mix, delay
regen and modulation switch ( the switch is like the EVH Phase 90 script switch top left corner) I just love this pedal i still continue to use my 3 digital delay pedals
on my current pedal board 2 of the Boss
DD-3 and 1 Boss DD-6 for tap delay, however the carbon copy and analog delay and its such a smooth delay with modulation , from slap back to U2 to my favorite Eddie Van Halen delay tones mixed with a little reverb. I love this pedal its not as harsh as my digital delays which I'll continue to use but it adds creme on your notes very impressed with the delay time. its rugged as all MXR's
I'm going to purchase another one for my
effects loop, go to Long and mcquade and try one out, the staff there are amazing for customer service. Step into the right direction with me , Cheers Adrian.

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty
A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.
Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.
How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.
Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.
Purchasing additional years of coverage
Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.
If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:
NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
