I've used 7506's forever and my pair finally packed it in. I had replaced that horrid non detachable curly cable once it had died, and the replacement straight cable I had installed broke as well recently. By that time they were beat to death and hard to repair so I put them out of their misery. I have recorded and mixed hundreds of projects for my work using 7506s over the past decade and know them very well. The downside to 7506s as well is that the vinyl covering eventually comes off in flakes which stick to your ears. Not sure about these Apex ones doing that yet, but I'll replace the earpads with nice soft plush ones anyway.
As these are phones I'm very used to, I can say that (without an direct A-B comparison - my dead Sonys are long gone in the dumpster) the Apex ones sound really similar. I don't remember the Sonys sounding any different. Quality is TBD over time, but I'm glad to have these again, and the cables are detachable and easily replaced. Bought them last week and I've already ordered a 6' straight cable for these to replace the curly one.
A very good clone so far!

Picked these up to replace my consumer headphones for monitoring musicians while recording. I chose them for the detachable chord, which is a feature you usually only find in high end headphones. They are very lightweight and comfortable, they have an even bass response but a tinny midrange which can be fatiguing after long periods of listening. However, I think the high mid forward sound might be advantageous, allowing me to fix midrange problems quickly while recording. The exposed cords running from the headband to the ear cup worry me a little, but if they last me a few years I'll be happy.

Picked these up while they were on sale. Cheaper than the Sony MDR-V7506, they are about the same in sound and build quality. Great for monitoring, would recommend to anyone looking to improve their mixing/mastering.
