This guitar has a beautiful, rich sound. I love playing it. I love feeling the vibration right through my chest. The action was a little high, but I had it set up and plays great now. The neck is comfortable. It is great for finger picking, scales, or strumming. I’ve had it for about 18 months. It is pricey, but since there are no electronics, you know you are paying for good, solid wood and craftsmanship. Highly recommend if you are looking for a little more out of your instrument and have a little bit more cash to spend on it.

I moved to this guitar from the La Patrie Presentation and haven’t looked back. I’ve only Ben playing for just over a year and can only compare it to the Presentation. This guitar is so “basey” and has a nice Spanish sound to it. I’m loving it so far and have no regrets whatsoever.

I am no expert at guitars, but I do know what quality looks like. Long & McQuade sold me on their expertise and the fact that they stand behind every instrument they sell. A slight flaw in the Almansa A-457 guitar I purchased caused a playability issue. Long & McQuade worked with another store to resolve the issue to my complete satisfaction and now I have a beautiful guitar that plays like a dream! The top rating is for the commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. I am pleased to be a customer. Now for the guitar: - WOW! What a dream to play. The sound quality, tone and pure volume from this guitar is amazing. I'm sure that as I learn more challenging songs this guitar will continue to perform beyond it's expectations. I don't believe I could have found a better guitar for the money and I'm looking forward to playing it for many years to come. Thank you Long & McQuade for your over-the-top customer service.

I had the model 401 with cedar for some months and decided to continue learning classical guitar, and upgrade to a different model. The 401 gave so much sound and quality for the money I decided to stick with Almansa for those reasons, plus wanting the Spanish build. The Almansa 457 with cedar and solid Rosewood was my choice, all things considered as to my ability and value for the buck. I've been playing it now for over 4 months, and it continues to impress. The more I learn, the more she teaches me. Details - the cedar top is fantastic with very, very tight consistent grain across the whole top. Colour with touches of red. A quality piece of wood that is light and with a very fast response beyond my present capabilities. The sweetness of the cedar and fine textures across all the strings are evident when my teacher plays her. He gets lost in her sound, and does not want to stop. Sometimes the lesson is just listening. Nice medium solid rosewood back and sides with all wood purfling and a beautiful rosette. Unfortunately some quality issues in the finish along the purfling near the neck. Barely visible but the blem discount was enough to balance the small defect. That is the reason I dropped the quality to an 8. If the defect was not there, it would be a 10 considering the cost of this guitar. Nice headstock design with a lustrous finish. The bridge design has an undercut where the strings are tied so that the final knot is tucked under and will not gouge the wood over time. I must mention the neck. The model 401 I used initially was quite chunky by comparison. The 457 was a pleasant surprise with a sleek neck improving the playability a lot considering my shorter fingers. It made all the difference for me and allowing me to extend my reach considering the full width nut. The tuners are quality, smooth and very positive with fine adjustment. Also very handsome in design. I could go on, but the reality is this - a great value for the money - yes. But this guitar just gives so much. She is very light, but solid, and so responsive to the fine touch of an accomplished player. From a vigorous attack, to a light touch, she just gives back with a quality of sound that makes more expensive guitars blush in embarrassment. When I watch the faces of the player as they explore the playability and test her with difficult passages says more to me than these words I write. They always take a good long look at the guitar when done, including the label inside. I won't be needing any more guitar than this one is the typical response. Truly a wonderful guitar for the money.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
