Musica Propria All Through The Night - Concert Band - Gr. 3
Grade: 3
Arranged by Julie Giroux
In 1784 Edward Jones recorded on paper the current melody used in All Through the Night. Of anonymous origins, the melody probably dates back to the 1600s, a Welsh folksong. Over the years there have been many lyrics written for this melody. The lyrics we sing today were written by Sir Harold Boulton in 1884. J.G.
We caught this beautiful setting of All Through the Night at Midwest this year. Ms. Giroux has taken this ancient Welsh folksong and woven a stunning arrangement that is accessible by intermediate ensembles. This works for almost any performance scenario.
