Distinctive and affordable, Jackson's X Series Soloist models are built for speed and comfort! The Jackson® X Series Soloist™ SLX DX Camo is a venerable double-cutaway workhorse that offers many fine features desired by today's shredders.

This Soloist model features an ergonomically curved poplar body and through-body maple neck with graphite reinforcement for rock-solid stability and tilt-back scarf joint headstock for reduced playing fatigue. Hosting 24 jumbo frets, its 12"-16" compound radius bound laurel fingerboard curves more dramatically at the nut for easy chording and flattens out as it approaches the neck joint for low-action bends without fretting out.

Active Jackson covered high-outputhumbucking pickups power this metal beast with an expansive voice loaded with crunchy, full-bodied tone ideal for brazen lead work or assertive rhythms runs. Tone is fully customizable with three-way pickup blade switching and single volume and tone controls, while a Floyd Rose® Special double-locking tremolo bridge system provides superior string stability and dynamic tremolo action.

Battle-ready, the X Series Soloist SLX DX Camo is dressed in Multi-colour Camo or Winter Camo with matching camo pointy headstock and black hardware.

Being used to Gibsons, Fenders and Ibanez I never really tried a Jackson but if you want a good 80s guitar, theres Kramer. ESP, Charvel and Jackson. They all had their place in the 80s but what makes a great 80s guitar is high gain pickups, a Floyd Rose, a fast neck and some crazy color on the body. My first Jackson was a Japanese Dinky with a weird swirly blue finish. I liked the short scale neck but the two single coil pickups were not very Strat sounding, the bridge pickup was a Duncan Distortion. I tried one of the "crackle" finish Soloists but didn't like the pickups with two single coils and a "Duncan designed" humbucker.or the weird neck with no taper. The pickups were thin sounding. I really wanted a Jackson with two humbuckers and a Soloist with the neck thru design, not bolt on. I didn't want a US made Soloist as I won't be playing the guitar that much to warrant the $3000 plus price despite the quality. I really wanted one of the Custom Shop Soloists but they were at least $5000! Forget it! And rare to find too but there was a Tiger Striped back about 2004 that looked pretty good... impossible to find. So got to compromise and I found one of these X Series Soloists. Got all the features I wanted. Active Jackson pickups, quite comparable to EMGs, Floyd Rose, 24 fret neck like the Dinky I had, and a crazy finish like George Lynch! The only negatives for an Indo made instrument is the quality control. Its minor but for the price point its acceptable. The finish is gloss but the pattern where it meets the black on the back side wasn't with clean edges in a few spots around the neck. Barely see it though. The pickups were a little less bassy than EMGs. The bridge is flimsy compared to a top notch Floyd Rose. It takes a bit of adjusting to get it to stay in tune. The pots were a bit scratchy, especially the tone knob. The laurel fingerboard is comparable to rosewood but lighter still like pau ferro. It may not like dry climates as the wood shrank ever so slightly. The frets could have been filed down better as they stick out a little on the binding. Would have been better to not have binding on the neck then filing frets would be easy. Still for at least a third of the price of the US made equivalent, and half the price of anything Japanese, you get what you pay for. I may upgrade the pickups to EMGs and put in better pots but the guitar is a keeper.

I own a '95 ibanez RG450 and I wanted an upgrade. I bought the multi couloured camo and it looks a lot better in person in my opinion. it is a fantastic instrument and sounds fantstic no matter what you do with it, as long as your not playing country. I love the active pickups and the locking strap system, which holds the strap ends in place by sandwiching them in specialised washers. If you hang your guitars by the headstock, watch out that you put it straight because the high e string is right at the end and if you putb it up on an angle, you can hear it make a little noise as the high e string on the headstock gets pulled around.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
