ISP Technologies presents the latest generation in high performance Noise Reduction technology, the DECIMATOR NOISE REDUCTION SYSTEM.

The Decimator G String noise reduction pedal was designed for those who want the ultimate performance in a foot pedal and delivers performance like that of the renowned ISP Decimator ProRackG.

The Decimator G String provides a totally independent channel of Decimator noise reduction that can be inserted into a series effects loop or after a preamp section with the advantage of having the Decimator level detectors track the guitar signal directly. With the G String pedal you can set the threshold and no matter what level of noise the Decimator will track perfectly without any side effects.

The amazing thing is that you can switch from high gain to your clean channel and never have to switch the Decimator G String off due to the threshold being set too high. Its simply transparent.

- Input Impedance: 500K ohms
- Maximum Input Level: +12dbu
Effective Noise Reduction: greater than 60db
Dynamic Range: greater than 100db
Total Harmonic Distortion: .05% typical
Power consumption: 35mA @9VDC
Release response: Program dependent based on Time Vector Processing

It does as advertised. If you don't have a hi gain amp though, you are out of luck with gain stacking if it doesn't have a Master control. It doesn't like boost/OD/distortion pedals and you get more noise from the decimator no matter which order you put the boost/distortion/OD pedal in the chain. This is characteristic of gain stacking though so maybe the exception is using a Hi-Gain pedal for a heavy metal tone in the clean channel of an amp. You have to put other pedals in the correct order as well when using this pedal or you will get extra noise (that is not due to the pedal). The correct order is to put this gate in front of everything: Dec Out > Chorus > Reverb > Etc.... In the front of the amp the same thing. Guitar Out > Tuner > Other Effect > Etc....To Amp I tried every which order using this pedal for years to figure it out. If you max out your channel volume and gain, you will get extra noise which is not the pedal's fault. If you have to turn something up that loud, something else is wrong (did you scoop your mids)? You may be out of luck if you don't have a Master Volume (the really old school amps) and you want hi-gain with little-to-no-noise. Be warned though that gain stacking isn't always ideal with the clean channel unless you are have years of experiencing mixing guitar in a band mix and that you don't scoop the mids, crank the bass, and crank the gain. Don't believe me: try scooping your mids playing to your favourite metal song and see how loud you have to turn it up: then increase the mids and see how little you have to turn it up to hear your guitar in the band mix. The reason I know this is because I tried every which way. I have a Marshall JVM. Plenty of gain from Blues to Dgent Metal without any boosts. I have been playing guitar for 13 years. I only gave the Quality 3.5 due to the "grey area" of gain stacking. Personally I'd rather use what the amp can give me with a hot pickup. Sounds more natural.

Sometime last summer i decided i wanted to upgrade away from my marshall 900 4100 50 watt head. i bought it new @ Long and mcQuade back in the day and it has been a faithful workhorse for 18+ years. fast forward to last year (2017) and after watching many you tube videos i decided to purchase a marshall jvm 205h. L&M only had one in stock and it happened to be out in Kitchener, On. with that, I made the drive out there and gave it a spin. in store, i played it for about half an hr @ bedroom level & loved it. not gonna lie this amp rocks, however (for me) it has one major flaw. when turned up to jam level: it hums, it buzzes and feeds back like no tomorrow. it bothered me so much i even contemplated on returning it. for the last 6 months ive been using a boss ns2 pedal that i purchased second hand. in truth it helped cut down the amount of noise but didnt do as much as i was hoping for... Anyway, fast forward to this week & after (reading) watching countless testimonial videos singing the praises of the ISP g string 2, I decided to splurge & see for myself. no word of a lie: it has literally tamed my high gain amp. i can now crank it up to any volume or setting and its dead quiet. for me, the silence is golden.

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
