Theodore Presser Sonata - Debussy/Bouriakov - Flute/Piano (originally Violin/Piano) - Sheet Music
Composer: Claude Debussy
Arranger: Denis Bouriakov
Format: Sheet Music
Instrumentation: Flute and Piano (originally for Violin and Piano)
With haunting compositions such as Syrinx and Faune, it is no surprise that Claude Debussy is many flutists' favourite composer. The Sonata for Violin and Piano (1918) is a deep 13-minute work in three movements -- a wide-ranging exploration of both modernism and the luscious beauty that infuses all of Debussy's music.
Denis Bouriakov's edition includes alternate fingering tips for special veiled colours, and insights into his interpretation of Debussy's magical effects. Bouriakov's 2012 CD recording and later performances of this transcription have offered us glowing examples of his iridescent technique.
