Surprising amount of tone and volume from this lightweight little rig. Only 25 lbs. This little amp kicks butt. 200 watts at 4 ohms is more than adequate for a lot of smaller gigs. The only thing is a gain PLUS a master volume like on the SB 500H head would be great. Overall a winner rig.

The Traynor SB112 is the best bass amp I ever purchased. Its small and neat. Easily to carry, not like other amps. Its light- only 25 pounds, lots of power-200 watts. Puts out a great sound.

I say little but that is only the physical size. The sound is huge and enough for most medium venues. Could use some speaker out options to allow you to 'push more air'....other than that its a winner.

SB112 vs. SB115 9 of 9 customers found this review helpful

I purchased a new SB112, and later bought an SB115 for a deeper bass sound. Other reviewers have said it all, so I will just add the following comment which has not been stated: The SB112 is front-ported (slot), while the SB110 and SB115 are rear-ported.(tube). This makes the SB112 more efficient than the other two amps, with the result that the SB112 is nearly as loud as the SB115. However, when I am playing on a wooden stage, the slot vent design of the SB112 produces a buzzing or vibration of the stage floor at higher volume levels. My solution is to place the amp on a carpet square. That dampens the sound nicely. Aside from this, the SB112 has a brighter sound than the SB115, which you would expect from a 12" vs. a 15" speaker.

Amazing sound from such a small box. Useful tone controls and the bass expander is a plus. Only 200 watts but fills the stage with my 5-piece band. Great bright tone with my active J-bass and my active P-bass with flat wounds doesn't sound muddy at all. The best thing about this little combo is the light weight. I can get my bass and my amp to the stage in one trip. Awesome! Only downsides, and they've already been mentioned, is the line out being tied to the master volume (can't adjust stage volume without affecting the level sent to the mixer), and the cheap pots that turn too easily.

Used it, so-far, on 5 gigs. Couldn't be happier with the sound and price. This thing paces well with combos twice the price! My only qualms are with the D.I. output being post, which can be altered with a simple leg and switch modification (why they missed this one is beyond me), and component quality specifically the choice for potentiometers and switches. I saw a few in rentals with the posts on potentiometers sheared off and switch caps missing!

I play in an acoustic trio (no drums) and this amp has everything covered for gigs and rehearsals. I also occasionally use an electric bass. I tried the SB110 and returned it in favour of the SB112. With acoustic bass the SB112 maintains more warmth and "true to the instrument" sound when the volume is turned up. It also did not require as high a volume on the knob in order to reach good volumes with the Fishman pickup on the acoustic bass - the SB110 had to be turned up to about 12 O'clock to match what the SB112 was putting out at 9 O'clock (I did not have the same issue with electric bass, where the SB110 was great). Compared to the SB110, the extra $60 and 4 pounds is no big deal, particularly when the SB112 is only 25 pounds. The the addition of the ground lift feature is also nice. Either amp worked well with the electric bass, where I'm less particular about tone.

Been playing bass for a lifetime it seems and I have seen gear come and go but the SB series amps are keepers. I can't imagine any combo beating this great little rig and I think Traynor has outdone it's self here ..Great series amps .. great on standup and acoustic bass, great with passive P bass tones or modern active fusion bite, Pedal friendly and crispy.. can you get any better..? No, I have tried them all and the Traynor SB is the real deal.

With all the combo amps out there, this one is by far the best. Great volume and tone, I can keep up with the drums no problem! I've used Traynor products since 1977 (YBA-4) and never disappointed. I also use the 2-10 bass cab with a 1-15 cab for bigger venues.
Made in Canada! I'm a very proud owner!
Thank you Traynor/Yorkville! I also have a Stage 400B amp, made in 1995 and still kicks butt, never let me down. Reliable!

nice and light and easily puts out for a mid sized club. only drawback i have found is when using the headphone jack for practice. there is very little volume and have to turn to 9 just to hear. no its not my headphones they are Bose and the same ones I used with all other amps.

Rented this and compared directly to the 115. Played without a band, the 112 is very slightly more articulate for ghost notes and runs. The 115 moves more air and has really, really nice bottom, and seems louder than the 112 but.......see below. The sound difference to the 112 is very noticeable but in my experience, the 112 sounds like it will cut through the mix a little better than the 115, see below.
The 115 has a master volume, nice but not essential. DI on the 115 is Pre EQ vs Post EQ on the 112, not a big deal. The 115 is noticeably bigger than the 112 and was awkward to carry with a bass in the other hand,... this is a big deal. Returned the 115.
Got a chance to try the 112 in a very loud basement party. The 112 was actually a bit too loud with the gain on 9 to 10am, EQ flat, zero expander, tweeter on. It cut through the mix so good, not boomy, not honky, just clear, nice thump, good bottom, articulate ghost notes and runs.
Lots of experience here and I'm super impressed with the sound. Add the price and portability....., one trip from the car, carried down stairs with bass in hand and didn't wreck the house,..... and it's a no brainer.
Will be purchasing the 112 ASAP.

I rented this amp, and I think that I am going to buy it. For a small light weight combo, it sure packs a good punch and has lots of tone. It has clear highs and deep lows. Handles my 5 string no problems. It has a nice blend of punchy bass from a smaller speaker and has the low bottom of a much larger speaker.
Can I mention how light it is! My other combo is 400 watts and back breaking. This can be carried one hand and thrown in back seat of car no probs. Can do small to medium sized gigs. Loud enough for 5 piece band.
It also makes a great keyboard amp as well.
Only complaint, no output to add another bass amp.

Everything about this amp is wonderful. I had a small 50 watt but needed something with more balls. The line out is perfect for a larger venue. Nice and light to toss in the car for a small jam and packs a nice punch when you need it. Love this combo and could not be happier.

Excellent Excellent combo. It really is the best sounding combo I have ever used. It has a sound a thousand miles wide. I can really hear the strings wobbling. It is an excellent amp. Old school bass tone. It makes you stop to admire the sound and say good job Traynor. I play it with a yamaha 1024. Use it along with a set of drums and an axe no problem.

I grew up with ampegs, Brystons powering my rigs, I wanted something light enough to carry, tired of 80lbs breaking my back, tested GK 112 and the SB112 sounded so much better, Traynor has come a long way, it's built here in Canada, far better than Chinese built gear, I grew up with Traynor, drop it off a cliff and it still works, it sounds right, try it, it's that good!

Fantastic little thing! The FIRST Traynor amp I have EVER liked, and yes, I HAVE tried them all. You guys did a FANTASTIC job on this one. Small, light, sounds great, cheap. A/B'd it with the Markbass single 12" combo (with the piezo), and the Traynor sounded BETTER. Markbass = $1100.00 Traynor = $450.00. I'm buying one, and recommending them to all my students. Best small combo under $2,000.00. Next update, add a mute button and an effects loop, make it rolex, and put some retro grillcloth on it instead of the rat fur. Aside from that, don't change a THING! Good job, Traynor.

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty
A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.
Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.
How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.
Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.
Purchasing additional years of coverage
Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.
If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:
NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
