5th Avenue Kingpin
The Godin 5th Avenue brings you back to a time when the archtop acoustic guitar reigned supreme. With the soul of a 1950s archtop, the 5th Avenue is a true vintage spirit of yesterday with todays level of modern playability. With more projection & volume in the low/mids than traditional archtop acoustic guitars, the dynamically rich tone of the 5th Avenue makes this sophisticated instrument a dream to play, but not a nightmare to pay for. The Godin 5th Avenue now makes the affordable North American archtop guitar a reality! From Alt-Country, Delta Blues, Slide, Jazz to Rock, the 5th Avenue can really deliver both acoustically and electrically. The new Godin Kingpin P90 single-coil pickup delivers all that classic, vintage tone with presence, clarity and a little attitude thrown in for good measure!

Made from Canadian Wild Cherry, the body of the 5th Avenue features a molded arched top and back, as well as an adjustable bridge, classic f-holes, contoured high-gloss headstock, floating pickguard and cream binding. Also, the rustic beauty of its Custom Polished Finish creates a gorgeous satin sheen reminiscent of the French polish of the 19th century.

I was struggling with the size of the dreadnoughts, Simon & Patrick, Seagull, and others when I saw the dimensions of the 5th Avenue and a short scale to boot. I am a senior with some arthritis left hand, and a nerve injury to my right shoulder so this fits me nicely. I swapped my Seagull performer at the North Van store where they found me a brand new 5th Ave, still in the box, in the Winnipeg store and had it shipped to me. Very nice, I think the full body arch top, no cutaway, makes for a fuller acoustic sound. I just picked up a Fender acoustasonic junior amp at the Vancouver store fo plug it into, also very nice. Thanks L & M.. Serving me since 1961 in Toronto.

The playability of this guitar is... awesome. It really feels comfortable, it plays well within or without effects : clean or full of disto you'll get something great out of this guitar. Plus, this guitar stay in tune and is really well made, I know that these are mostly handrafted, and it makes the difference. Super guitar, and super affordable.

I was looking for an Archtop. I came across 1 Godin but it sold before I made the decision. I spend time playing the guitars I buy. I finally settled on the Gretsch New Yorker, A week after I bought it I came across this guitar on Marketplace. Just out of curiosity I went to look. I fell in love. and bought it. LOL…. It plays like butter.. Its almost identicle in size and style to the Gretsch but 1. the tuners on the Godin are much easier to use. they both stay in tune.. 2. the sound of the Godin is warmer accoustically.. They are both great.. but for some reason when I sit down I pull the Godin off the stand.. ( right beside the Gretsch) most of the time. Im now considering the King Pin II…. LOL. the most amazing thing is .. how easy it is to play .. again.. just like butter.

I don't know a lot about guitars, build quality, tone, etc. I lucked in with my first new guitar purchase, a Montreal Premier and in comparison with my Japanese herd of guitars......the sound, tone, playability, but mostly the looks..... beyond compare. So my next new guitar was the Kingpin, hoping that I would be as pleased with the Kingpin as I was with the Montreal Premier. I appreciate the cost difference and expected a diminished playing experience in line with the cost. I was wrong, right out the plastic shipping shoulders, no adjustments, just play. Now just about a year into the Kingpin, have restrung using Elixir lights and the experience is almost haunting, when played thru my Katana. So don't be shy about buying a Godin Fifth Avenue Kingpin. It is a superlative guitar in every way except price.

i purchased the black model. This is an amazing instrument, full of sweet tone acousticaly and a warm tone plugged in. The only drawback that i've found is that the thumb screws on the tuning pegs need to be tightened all the way in order to stay in tune for any length of time. Otherwise it goes out of tune easily. I did not buy it from lm. Instead i found it for 300 less at tom lee during a clear out. In conclusion i feel other then the tuning pegs it is a 5 out of 5 star guitar. I play something from soundgarden to tool and a little in between. It plays these styles great.

I've had my Godin 5th Ave Kingpin for about 2 years now.. I love this one! It's become my "go - to " guitar even though i own guitars that cost 4 times as much. With flat wound strings on it, it's fast and comfortable, great mellow jazz tone plugged in. Works well for almost any style particularly blues. Really pretty too... excellent solid guitar and a bargain price. Godin's rock! ps if it's in your price range i'd recommend you go for the cut away version with 2 P90's pickups for a bit better access to upper frets.

I love the sound and feel of this Godin 5th Avenue Kingpin P90 guitar, with or without the electric. And it looks good too. I tried a basic electric guitar but wasn't happy with it. I traded up to this one and was glad I did. I just love to play it day and night, it just sounds and feels great. What a sweet heart it is. I just have to decide on a name for it. You know we name the things we love.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
