Out of all of Les Pauls many achievements; inventor, guitarist, and hit recording artist, Les is most beloved among musicians for inspiring the Les Paul Standard, one of the most sought-after guitars in the world. And now, the Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plustop PRO gives the legend a fresh start with ProBucker-2 and ProBucker-3 pickups with coil-tapping, a AAA flame maple veneer top, and beautiful new color finishes including Honeyburst (inspired by late 50s vintage Les Pauls), Heritage Cherry Sunburst, Trans Blue, Vintage Sunburst and Wine Red.

Epiphones history with legendary guitarist and innovator Les Paul dates back to the early 1940s when Les, working nights at the Epiphone factory on 14th Street in New York City, created one of the first solid body electric guitars, better known as The Log. Over the next 15 years, Les continued to develop his dream guitar that would sustain for days and in the late 50s, the historic Gibson and Epiphone factory in Kalamazoo, Michigan produced the sunburst Les Paul Standard and its new pickup, the PAF humbucker.

Players like Joe Bonamassa, Slash, Ace Frehley, Zakk Wylde, Jimmy Page, Alex Lifeson and countless others get their signature sound from a sunburst Les Paul and now Epiphone gives you a chance to experience that one-of-a-kind tone at an affordable price with the Les Paul Standard Plustop PRO. The Les Paul Standard Plustop PRO features ProBucker PAF-style pickups with coil-tapping, new colors and a beautiful AAA flame maple veneer top for a vintage look with all the modern appointments that players expect from Epiphone.

Only ever owned an acoustic guitar, but I have always been in love with the sound and look of the Les Paul. If I earned 3 times what I do I still might be able to justify buying a Gibson given all the reviews of the Epiphone I watched and read. So, I too the leap, and I love it. The tone, the colour, the weight... right down to its tiny manfacturing defect where the top was oversanded along the bottom edge to produce a little notch where none should be (makes it unique. I'll always know its mine.) Gibson vs Epiphone Les Paul? Neither will my ears nor my fingers ever know the difference.

This is the second one I have owned. I sold the first one due to some stressful times, but knew I would get another when I could. Well, that was Monday. I only wish I could have got the dark wine coloured one I had originally. The Honeyburst is almost as pretty!!! I am a novice player, and will likely always be. But this guitar with the right amp setting makes me sound good!! I have played a $5000.00 Les Paul and I sound exactly the same! I would put it up against anything out there, at any price. It's to bad Gibson can't focus more on what actually makes them money. One of the worst finished guitars I have seen in awhile was an American made Hummingbird. The Epiphone copy was way better!!!

All I can say is wow! I bought this as the third instalment of the "trinity" of electrics - Strat, Tele, and now Les Paul. Both my Fenders are MIA, so I felt my LP should be American as well. The problem is I love the Les Paul sound and look, but I have a hard time justifying paying thousands of dollars for a guitar that has quality issues and won't stay in tune. I looked at the lower end Gibsons - Tributes, and Faded models, but they looked and felt cheaply made. There are so many good reviews for this guitar, I had to try it. Incredible. Action and intonation were perfect. Neck is very comfortable to play. Looks and feels like a $3000 LP. I A/B'd it next to a few Gibsons, and couldn't hear much difference sonically. So It came home with me and I don't regret it. Sounds awesome through my Blues Junior Tweed, and Line 6 Helix. Yes it's made in China, but they are putting out some high quality guitars these days. So if you want a tone monster that feels, looks and plays like the real thing, get this one! Is it worth an extra $2000 just to say "Gibson" on the headstock?

I have had 2 of these (both trans-blue), great value for the money, and beautiful finish and construction. My first was a Korean build, the more recent one, a China model - aside from minor tightening of the pots, and bridge adjustment, I think they are pretty close in quality. I've also a limited edition Anniversary Epi-LP, but have not gotten around to playing it much. I like these ones to take out to play, whereas my Gibson lives in a climate controlled state and is only played at home, or to record. Excellent value on these units.

I have had this guitar for 10 months now and sounds great when cranked through an amp. My only con or issue about this guitar is the weight. when playing onstage for long amounts it can be very tedious. but other than that i love it!!!!

I've had this guitar for about a month. Love it! It needed to be set up before it actually played well, but it sounded great right off the rack. L&M offer a "free" setup (I put that in quotations because they charge you for strings, WTF?) so take advantage of it. If you still don't like it you can still return it after a set up is done. Now that it has been set up, I just love playing it. Action is great and the sound is even better now! I don't have an amp, but I'm playing it through Garageband via an iRig2. Overall, this is a great guitar for someone who just wants to play electric and sound good.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
