I've had this cherry red es339 for 3 weeks now and it is my current favorite, competing against my high end Gibsons, Fender and Taylor guitars. I'm running it through the clean channel of my deluxe reverb and the tone is beautiful. There is nothing about this guitar that feels cheap, rough or not quite up to the standards I'm accustomed to. I bought it "used", so $200 off the cost of new. After cleaning up some smudge marks it looks brand new with no visible wear. The set up was perfect and it felt/played better than the new model that was in the store. I bought a 339 hard shell case at the same time with $$ saved by choosing the used one and still came out ahead. It is much more comfortable to play than my Gibson ES335, although not quite matching tone of guitar that costs 7x price. Overall extremely pleased - Epiphone nailed this and I would agree with their tagline "Inspired by Gibson"

The only thing I had to do to the ES339 was a bit of nut work and set it up to my liking. The tone and feel are exactly what I was looking for. I also own an ES339 which is a quality guitar. I would purchase these guitars again.

...play this Epiphone 335. The build quality and finish are excellent, the tone is remarkable and the playability (after a set up) is every bit as good as the Gibson 335, only it's 4 grand cheaper.

I went into the Burlington store looking for a cheap electric guitar. Picked this one up and I was hooked. Not as inexpensive as I had planned but I really enjoyed playing it. This is my first electric guitar. Now I have to learn how to use all the fancy features :)

I bought my new Pelham blue ES-339 at L&M, North Vancouver. I had read a lot about the quality control gaps in Chinese made guitars, and also that Gibson (and therefore, Epiphone) has made strides over the past few years improving their QA.
My guitar is new perfect. The only flaws in the finishing are slight imperfections around the inside of the f-holes, and sharp fret edges. The edges are sharp enough to cut my skin, but this is not a QA issue. "Fret sprout" occurs when a wooden neck is made in a humid region and the wood dries and shrinks when sent to a region that is less humid. I have purchased files to dress the fret ends to eliminate this problem.
The Pickups have a warm sound, and I'll admit I'm already toying with the idea of replacing the neck hum bucker with a good p-90. Imagine that - hum bucker in the tail and P-90 in the neck!
This smaller size brother of the legendary ES-335 is easy to play, having the same nut width as my acoustic, and comfortable low action. It is small enough to be convenient to handle, whereas I found the ES-335 to be a bit of a handful.
I am delighted with the excellent Grover tuners. They offer low ratio adjustment, and the guitar holds its tune very well. It is a snap to dial in with these tuners.
The Pelham blue finish does not show well in photos where it looks washed out and lacking in character. But the actual guitar looks classy and elegant. It sounds great, and is hampered only by gaps in my playing skill.

This is my first electric guitar. I went to my local Long & McQuade to see if the weight would suit me and planned to order the Pelham Blue model if it did. I walked out with the Cherry red and absolutely love this guitar. Great tone. Stays in tune. It weighs just over 6 pounds and the 14 inch body is a perfect fit for my 5’6” frame. Quality parts. Great tone! Easy to play. The finishing of the binding could have been scraped better before the final clear coat at the factory but it is otherwise gorgeous. Lovely wood grain showing through the finish.
A shout out to Alain at Sherbrooke Long & McQuade. He is knowledgeable and very pleasant to deal with.

I went to my local Long & McQuade to simply see if this model was light enough for me to perform with. It weighs in somewhere over 6 pounds which is heavier for my shoulders than any acoustic I own. I read the reviews and was very interested in this guitar but in Pelham Blue. They had a cherry model and it was practically love at first strum. Clear tones. Great sustain. Stays in tune. Very versatile. Thought about ordering the blue one. In the end, though, it was the sound that mattered more and really, the red is gorgeous with lovely wood grain showing through.
The warts? The fingerboard (Indian Laurel) was kind of ugly but it turned out to be just really dirty and dry from our cold winter climate. Serial # indicates April 2021 so it hadn’t been loved in a while. It may have slipped past quality control or been tried by someone with grubby hands. I cleaned that up with some lemon oil and it looks better than new. Also, the binding looks hastily done on the body - uneven in a couple of spots but folks… this is a $729 guitar that otherwise looks, feels and sounds like the best of the parent company models. So, I don’t dwell on the finish bits. It took a half star off for this and not more because the quality of everything else is great. There was a time when the guitars coming out of the Gibson factory in the States had bigger complaints on finishing than what I describe here and cost thousands more.
Oh, and I would be remiss not to mention the excellent service from Alain who is knowledgeable and very pleasant to deal with at Long & McQuade in Sherbrooke QC. Always friendly. He filed the fret edges and set up the guitar for me, even demonstrating different features for me. Merci Alain!

Read a lot of positive reviews on the Inspired by Gibson series and was pleased to find one in vintage cherry at L&M Bloor. The quality of this guitar is evident from the moment you pick it up. Sounds great through an amp and it is hard to tell the difference between this and the Gibson model at four times the price. The factory set up was not great, but L&M set it up perfectly. Everyone at the store is really helpful. This is my go to store in Toronto.

I’ve been dealing with L&M in Windsor for over 20 years. Bill Conely and his staff are very nice to deal with. The 339 fits the bill for playability, and comfort. It’s comfortable to hold, not as bulky as the 335, yet to me, sounds just as nice. Playing through my VOX AC30 C2, which also comes from the Windsor store, I am able to get all the great tones I was looking for. Big thanks to Bill.

I called my Long@Mcquade Daryl and ordered .....another one! Sold my Es - 339 in April and regretted it ever since so I had to get another one. These guitars are so comfortable to play from the neck down and perfect body size and the sound I get match or exceed any other semi-hollow body guitars out there! Am I happy....?.....Yer damn right!

10 years ago I bought a Epiphone ES335 dot from L&M in Surrey. It became known as the Crap-i-phone ES 335 Dot very quickly. I could not keep it in tune no matter how many times I got it set up. I changed the tuners 2x but still no luck. I gave it away and never looked at Epiphone again, until recently. I've always wanted a Gibson ES335 or ES339 but I never had that kind of money available. I bought a new tele but realized very quickly that I'm not a Fender player. I went to trade my tele in for something I wanted. I tried the Inspired by Gibson Epi ES335 and it was awesome. Then I tried the Inspired by Gibson Epi ES339 and was completely struck by the quality, sound and feel of the guitar. Bought it right then and there. I have to say that Gibson sure did a great job upgrading their cheap line guitars to something very exciting and playable.

I purchased this guitar in the store at 2777 Steeles Ave.I was initially aiming at the Epiphone Uptown Kat ES (Rubby Red) model which costs a few hundred more, being attracted to ebony fretboard and pretty looks. However, after closer inspection and short trial, I was unsure if that is really what I want. It sounded weak and unimpressive. I looked around and saw this new ,"inspired by Gibson", version of es 339, with the new headstock that was really cute and with a significantly lighter price tag. Frankly speaking, I did not expect much. I plugged it to the same crappy solid state amp I used to test the Kat and noticed huge difference between the two. What was pretty captivating is the clarity of the humbuckers and a deep, big hollow-body like sound coming from the neck pickup. Totally unexpected from such a relatively small body which is even not a fully hollow. Neck is also very Gibson like, comfortable and "meaty", and laurel fingerboard visually does not differ from the one made from average rosewood. At home, plugged in to a proper amp, this guitar sounded like no other budget semi hollow I have or owned before. It blows away Ibanez AM93, Epi es 335, Epi Swingster Royale and old Sheratone. I don't know if was just lucky and if the other models from the "inspired by Gibson" series are of the same consistent quality, but I am more than happy with this one and I am considering selling some of the guitars, including much more expensive ones which appear inferior sounding compared to this one. It is good for jazz (actually fantastic), blues and sounds very balanced and responsive, not to mention the comfort playing due to the small body. Strongly recommend to at least try it in the store, compare it to the more expensive models and decide for yourself.

I traded my Epiphone Sheraton in on the ES-339 two years ago and have never regretted it. The latter is, in my opinion, the more comfortable instrument. By way of comparison, the Sheraton costs $300 more. Both have coil splitting, but the larger body of the Sheraton was off-putting while the smaller 339 body is really comfortable. Top marks for quality as well as price. Someday people will figure out that Epis are the best deal for quality and price unless you want to pay out money to have your headstock read Gibson, which certainly isn't a bad thing.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.

Great Additions
