Having only played a couple of Telecasters from back in the 70’s this new American Professional II is a genuine treat to play. It sounds incredible through a Deluxe Reverb amp. The satin finish makes a huge improvement on the back of the neck..no more getting stuck on the gloss finish of older Telecasters. I am most impressed with the quality of this guitar, from the finish to the hardware and fret work to the electronics. The hard shell case is of good quality also and fits the guitar like a snug glove. Can’t be happier with my purchase!

I’ve had a fair number of Teles, including some Custom Shop ones, but none has jumped out at me like this burst with maple neck American Professional II. Even playing it acoustically, it has snarl, twang and bite. Through my new Gibson Falcon tube amp, it COMES ALIVE! Love the neck, and the push on, push off on the tone knob is so much better than a pull only option. I’m going to make mine look like the famous Clarence White / Marty Stuart owned B-bender (but without the bender); I’ve already sourced the Frankfurt main sticker, Nudie Cohn corner sticker, and even found a 72 Plymouth Satellite rear trunk plate. Just need to add the ‘54 neck Strat pickup and it’s going to be the coolest Tele! Fantastic guitar all around.

The great guys at L&M Danforth, too many to name, but they know who they are, we’re beyond awesome in helping me get my dream guitar. It’s everything and then some I could have hoped for. I’m in love….end stop! While it was almost perfect out of the box, it did need a bit of love. Once again your ‘super tech’ DAVE has done it again. Cheers Buddy! Give that guy a raise….and a beer….and a pizza ASAP! You folks at L & M are awesome folks. This guy is feeling like a kid at Christmas….once again. A big big thank you all around folks. Cheers

Pros:
Vmod 2 pickups
Modern Ergonomic Contours
Hard-Shell Molded Case
Truss-rod above the nut(not near the bridge pickup)
Compound radius board
Cons:
3 saddle bridge
no locking tuners
I have been playing this for 6 hours since I got it and it sounds glorious and playability is top-notch!
Upgrading to locking tuners, and 6 saddle bridge will cost less than going for the Ultra Luxe.
This is the best Telecaster for the money you can buy without going Custom Shop (if you are not into the noiseless pickups)..

First up, I didn't buy this through Long McQuade, because they didn't have stock (and still don't), but I do have one, so I though I'd share here anyway.Second up, it's a beautiful looking instrument. This isn't the most important thing, but it's the thing you notice first and I have to admit was one of the deciding factors in my decision to go with the particular model I did (siena sunburst, pine body). Looks fabulous, nice colour combo of the body with the pickguard and the neck is a really deep, vintage maple colour. Even darker than it looks in the photo (that's true of the siena sunburst body as well, which is less orange than it appears in the photo).Third, the neck is wonderfully smooth. The rounded edges are very noticeable and it is very easy to play. Fourth, the pickups are nicely twangy and you have the added flexibility of fattening up the sound with the push-push tone knob which switches between (the usual) parallel and series for the middle position.I'd say there are two things I'm not crazy about: one is the price, but there are obviously plenty of other cheaper Fender Teles available. That said, Gibson are always viewed as being prohibitively expensive but it's a bit crazy to think there are Gibson Les Paul options with a lower price tag than this guitar. The other thing is the three brass saddles. I know there are people who like this traditional version of the bridge, but as far as I'm concerned it clearly is inferior for intonation than six. Given the American Pro series is supposed to incorporate modern changes to give the best balance between tradition and modern convenience, I would have thought six saddles would be the way to go -- especially as the Mexican Player goes that way.

I just bought this a couple weeks ago. I have wanted a tele for some time and started playing different models in the store. The difference in sound with this particular tele was very noticeable. The fit and finish on this guitar is just superb, and all the hardware is high quality, but the finish on the wood, fretboard and back of the neck is just fabulous. It sounds cheesy to say (like I'm a Fender rep or something, which I'm not) but when you walk into the room and see the guitar there, it's like a piece of art. That being said, I'm changing the pick guard to a white one lol (this was the only available model in the burst finish - and I had to wait for it to arrive - and the tele pick guards are cheap and easy to change of course). I really enjoy the single coil sound - and you can change the mid selection from series to parallel by pressing the tone knob which gives a much much richer sound. I do have 2 minor complaints - one is that the selector is a bit awkward to switch when it's set on the bridge pickup (because of how close it is to the volume knob. This is the design on all teles of course but it seems a bit silly. The second is the single coil hum. I knew about that when I bought it but it is annoying and it probably doesn't help that my amp is set up near the electrical meter of my house. I guess it's the price to pay for the great single coil sound. As far as the pickup sound goes, the bridge pickup is really nice, I play mostly rock with it and it really suits that purpose. The mid selection is kind of thin, but it's a good strumming sound selection. Once the tone know is pressed, what a full sound you get from that! Also in the mid selection, there is a bit less hum. The hum in general can be minimized by turning this way or that way to avoid picking up whatever signals it picks up - it's just something I need to deal with when I play. The neck selection is a really full bluesy sound which I also love, it has lots of bass, some pop and is really rich. The playability of this guitar is really great. I always had a thinner style neck but this fat neck plays well and really changes the way I play my other guitars, so I find having this big neck has improved my playing due to the variety of neck size - I play my other guitars better and am playing more cleanly due to the sensitivity of the tele pickups catching every little sound. The overall sound of the guitar is very rich and full as well, which makes my other guitars seem a little bland or quiet (though they have good pickups too). The back of the neck has a silky finish rather than a high gloss finish which I really enjoy and makes sliding the hand easier and less sticky. When I bought the guitar, the high E string would grind when I bent it at around the 10-12th fret. I thought I had a rough fret or something but it was just a flawed E string. I put on new strings and it's all fixed. Other than that, the setup on the guitar off the shelf was perfect. Action, truss rod, everything was ideal. I haven't adjusted anything. Overall it's a very high quality guitar, very playable with a fantastic sound, I'm totally happy with my purchase.

This guitar rocks! Perfect amount of snap with a classic tele sound. The series and phase switching for the center position makes it have a “extra” tone but not making it confusing like the early version of s1 switching on other models. The vmod 2 pickups are a awesome for the tone they put out. Also the intonated brass saddles score ! Fender hit a home run with the AM pro II

I had bought a Squier Telecaster classic Vibe 50s about a year ago and was blown away by it. Never in my whole life I thought I’d see myself playing a tele but here I am a year later I loved my Squier so much that I bought this American pro 2. They look so alike but this tele is about half the weight and plays very well. I was surprised because in my opinion this guitar’s neck pickup sounded very nice even better than the bridge pickup though télés are known for their bridge pickups, not the other way around. The pickups sound very loud and very clear, to be honest this could be the only guitar you ever need (I also own the American pro 2 strat SSS) and I thought this sounded nicer in the neck pickup than the strat (shock of the year). Out of the box the wires were through the bridge and not through the body. My Squier tele classic vibe 50s seems to have a more punchy bridge pickup (I was a bit disappointed by that here) but I’m not sure until I get new strings and pull them through the body and raise the pickup a bit. Push push feature on the tone knob is a non requirement for me but is a nice freebie to have. Guitar is a gem, If I could only have one guitar in the world that would be it (I mean from my own personal collection lol, of course I’d pick a custom shop one if I had it!) Value wise it’s hard to justify unless you’re a pro, the Squier is a definitely better value but you can’t put a price on what motivates you to play and fills your ears with pure joy. I think this guitar will please most people, a lot.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
