Great volume and tone. Nice size - keep it in my home office and play it every day. I replaced the medium bronze phosphor strings for D'Addario's EJ40 Silk & Steel Acoustic Strings - 11-47, and find them more responsive and easier on the fingers!

I went to L&M Mississauga and got a taylor bt2? Its a nice guitar but I wanted more of nicer tone. Anyways I came back and exchange it for the GS mini and wow what a difference. I really like this guitar for the size and sound. Im really happy with it and comes with a really nice case. I am 5?6 and find this very comfortable playing so I totally recommend it.

I wanted a short scale guitar to work on my fingerstyle playing. I'd heard really good things about the GS Mini so I picked up the mahogany version from L&M in Brantford (kudos to Steve... Great guy to work with and excellent customer service). At first I thought I might have made a mistake as I found the fingerboard a little tight but it didn't take long to adjust. I'm about 3 weeks in with it now and have a hard time keeping my hands off it. It has a beautiful tone and is just a lot of fun to play. Highly recommended!

I just purchased this guitar May 27th, 2022. I must say, I can't walk by it without picking it up and playing it. This guitar is extremely comfortable to play and it has a HUGE sound. It has beautiful bottom end, pronounced mid-range and soft but beautiful highs. I can't say a bad thing about this guitar. Well done Taylor!!

I bought this model because the one that I wanted was sold the day before. I thought I will regret it because the other one was KOA with ES2 and sounded amazing. They had two of these Mahogany at the store, the one on display didn't impressed me. Luckily the sales rep Andrew said there is another one in the storage never opened. I asked him to bring it out and I am glad he did. Bought it on the spot after I strum a few chords. I have it now for almost 30 days and I played it at least an hour a day ever since. This is a keeper. Andrew was so helpful and made my purchased experienced at L&M amazingly pleasant.

I stringed mins with Martin Retro 12-54, which is just right gauge and feel for me. I am not a fan of the higher tension 13-56 gauge. The mahogany top indeed exhibits that rich warm and mellow tone. Out of the box, the fit and finish are great. All I had to do is to change to new strings and shave down the bottom of the saddle to get 2mm on the low E and about 1.5mm of the high E, which is my typical settings. Great value. I'm happy. It's a Taylor guitar.

This little gem is easily my most favorite guitar I've ever owned. Within 2 minutes of picking it up and playing it in store I decided to buy it. The sound and quality of this guitar for $699 is outstanding. It's small and super easy to play but it boasts a sound that is comparable with most full. It's size makes it great for travelling as it takes up very little room. I'd recommend this guitar to anyone, regardless of their level/ability. My 10 year old daughter is starting to learn as well and this is the perfect guitar for her to learn on. Overall I'm extremely satisfied with it and I feel like I got a ton of value for my money.

I have owned at least 12 acoustic guitars over the years. Had this model been available a few years ago I would not purchased all the others . This one is comfortable and easy to play. Don't let the size fool you as it has great sustain and volume. Now I have my eyes set on the Koa model!

I have bought and sold COUNTLESS guitars. Its almost a problem. (Only my wife can truly understand the accuracy of that comment) So believe me when I tell you... I have played almost every guitar from every brand out there. This has been the most played guitar in my collection for the last 2 years, and is also the least expensive. This guitar is the perfect blend of comfort and tone. Whether playing on the couch or jamming with a band this guitar makes it work. The warmth you get with the Hog top is a drastic contrast to the sharper tone of the spruce top, and was ultimately what lead me to purchase it. Many continue to come and go, and this little monster continues to get played!

Regardless of size, mobility, ease of play and all the other factors that might cause you to buy this smaller format Taylor, in the end, it's all about the sound. This guitar delivers on all those factors and also sounds beautiful. I was looking for a smaller, portable guitar that was easier on my right shoulder and left hand than my full-sized guitars . I tried a lot of different parlour guitars in my search. This GS Mini is extremely comfortable and still sounds remarkable. As time passes I suspect this guitar will be the one I play all the time. I bought it "used" from L&M and it's unblemished. There were two of them in the Used rack. I think the GS Mini is often purchased as a "first" or "child's" guitar and later traded in for a large body model.

Couldn't afford a 322, but this more than satisfied my G.A.S. I may be a borderline/mediocre player, but my ear is good. Has that Taylor chime, but just a bit mellower. Try the spruce topped too, slightly prefer the mahogany top. Nice full sound balanced sound. VERY comfortable, just pick up and play. Neck fits my hand very well (the small hand with stubby fingers and a dwarf pinky). Like the title says, the sound is worth twice the price.

I've owned this guitar for two years now and am still impressed with it's tone , playability, hard sided gig bag, and one other important feature that doesn't seem to get mentioned a lot. That feature is the NT neck in this little gem that helps keep your action low and the neck very stable, even when you travel to a place that has a big humidity change from where you live. For an example and comparison, I live in northern Alberta... very dry normally, and I also own a Martin Dreadnought Junior (which is a beautiful travel guitar in it's own right) that I have just brought to Jamaica.Itt's neck has reacted bowed up so much to the point that it's basically unplayable. On the other hand when bringing my GS mini with me down here and to Mexico, the humidity doesn't affect the guitars neck. Google the Taylor NT neck design if you're not aware of it. I'll be leaving the Martin behind and bringing the GS mini for most of my travels now.

I started learning guitar on a cheap Yamaha that hurt my wrist to fret, even years later when I had moved on to electrics and could play those for hours at a time without any wrist issues. As a result I completely lost interest in ever playing my acoustic. The GS Mini has a neck like an electric, super easy to play, weighs about as much as a cup of coffee and sounds incredible. That it can also easily add a pickup and comes with a nice carrying bag is a bonus.

Had a Taylor 214CE for more than a year now and absolutely love it. Wanted a smaller travel size guitar so picked this up at L&M Kanata. Wow! It has all the bright tones of my Big Taylor and great bass. Rings forever. The depth is obviously the only thing missing, but throw in a pick up and you basically have my Big Taylor for half the price. But don't get me wrong, the depth is great for its size! Highly recommend!

What a fabulous guitar this is. Don't let the price fool you or the people who complain its made in Mexico. This is 100% Taylor and the quality and the detail is fantastic. I own the Mahogany GS Mini. I do have smaller hands and the size and neck are beautifully suited to all music styles. I have owned lots of guitars over the years, and nearly $700 is a lot of money, but i sold a few older guitars to buy this knowing it would hold its price if I did decide to sell. First off....I won't be upgrading this, as I'm not sure what I could upgrade to. Absolutely love it!

I held off writing this review until the "novelty" of a new guitar had passed. the crazy part is it hasn't! I have been playing this guitar nonstop for the last 6 months. As you will read in other reviews, it really is a small guitar that sounds big. It has amazing tone, sustain and the play-ability is superb. Im finding that my other guitars are getting neglected because I cant seem to put this one down. The high end features like the NT neck, relief routed top, and ebony fingerboard and bridge are a plus for a modestly priced guitar. Im loving the 23.5" neck as well. because of its small stature, my finger picking has gotten a lot better. I had demo-ed both the spruce and hog. I have never been a fan of Taylors because I find them a bit to bright (im a Martin Guy!) however the Hog top had a nice warm tone to it. So recently I have started performing with it A LOT! I spent a modest amount of $ and customized it, now when i bring it out at jams, I have had some musicians think its a $2000+ guitar. here is what I did to my mini. most of it was just for aesthetics. Custom Sapele truss rod cover ebony tuner buttons ebony bridge pins I removed the original pick guard and put on a Taylor gs mini Black one. and last but not least I installed a K&K pure mini pick up. I first purchased the ES Go but got a lot of buzzing. Anyways. If your looking for a smaller sized guitar I highly recommend The GS MINI M. I have played and owned many travel guitars but this one takes the cake. WAY TO GO TAYLOR!

Very nice powerful sound from small guitar. Nice sustain and ring. Great gigbag. Very nice guitar overall and a great value for the money. The fret board is a little crammed for my larger fingers as you go up the neck but not unplayable. The mahogany sounded better to me than the spruce. Light and sweet I would recommend trying it.

Absolutely love this Guitar!! Have 6 other guitars and this one is my go-to. It fits snugly and has super volume and ring. I bought a pick up for it for $100.00 extra and sounds amazing amplified. Brought it to Meixico with me last year and was aloud to carry it on it was so small. Best value for the price!

The GS mini has impressive sound in terms of volume and timbre especially considering its small body size. The build quality is generally good however mine has a few rough spots on the back of the neck where the wood grain is raised. I also find the body edges to be unnecessarily sharp and somewhat uncomfortable. The action is a little on the high side and the heavier gauge strings that are supplied from the factory make it more difficult to fret than I was expecting. I feel that its sound is best suited to finger style playing, in this application the sound is nicely balanced and has good note separation. However the tone can be a little harsh sounding when using a flat pick. The included gig bag is nicely made and well designed.

My first ever high quality guitar and I'll probably never stop being in love with the little thing. Like other reviewers point out, it's such huge sound from a diminutive instrument. Im a petite person so it suited me perfectly, but get a kick when my larger male colleagues pick it up, are taken aback by the tone, and then spend 20 minutes in quiet fascination noodling around on it with their large hands. Even then, it's clearly very comfortable to play; not at all ham-handed to handle even if you're not petite.

I'm starting to use it more than my other guitars. From the moment I tried it in the store I knew it was coming home with me! The gorgeous mahogany top makes it stand out from the rest.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
