The Hummingbird Studio Acoustic/Electric updates the 60s classic with a solid spruce top, mahogany neck and body, Grover® Rotomatic® 18:1 ratio tuners, traditional binding and historic Hummingbird pickguard, and Fishman™ Sonitone™ electronics.

First introduced in 1960, the square shouldered Hummingbird quickly became a classic thanks to Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones, who used a Hummingbird for rhythm on early Stones hits like "Satisfaction," "Play With Fire," and "Under My Thumb." There are also many classic photographs of Keith using a Hummingbird on sessions for Exile on Main Street, Goats Head Soup, and Sticky Fingers. Today, the Hummingbird is still a go-to acoustic for rockers like Noel Gallagher, Sheryl Crow, and Kid Rock when they need a rhythm guitar with smooth action and superb woody tone that's full of character.

On its own, the Hummingbird Studio Acoustic/Electric can drive an all-acoustic band or be front and center at a picking party with its sweet, balanced tone. Now with the Fishman™ Sonitone™ pickup system, the Hummingbird Studio can plug-in and hold its own on any size stage.

I literally spent over 2 hours in the acoustic guitar section/room playing and comparing it to guitars that cost anywhere from $1600 to $3200 (Gibsons, Martins, Taylors, and even other Inspired by Gibson Epiphone guitars) and for this guitar being around the $600-700 price it really did sound great. Now I'm not saying it sounded better or felt better comparing to the other guitars that were very well above this guitar's price tag, but for someone like me who's only had a Yamaha FG800 since I started learning and playing guitar, this Epiphone Studio feels and sounds great and once it's setup and restrung, I'm positive it'll be even better. Just 2 things that I dislike: 1) The built in electronics are inside the sound hole and changing/putting in the battery can be a pain in the ... 2) I really would of liked for this to be all solid wood not just solid top. Lastly, I'd like to say a special thank you to Ian .R. from the Burlington location for answering all my questions and for allowing me to spend time and test out and compare guitars. Truly amazing experience and the staff at the Burlington location truly go above and beyond for their customers.

Very pleased with this guitar. Looks, sounds and plays great. The soundhole sticker on mine says Inspired by Gibson. It has the new smaller Epiphone headstock which looks really sharp. The fishman pickup system it comes with is the same one that you’d see on various Gibsons. Ebony burst finish is quite striking. For the price, this is a lot of guitar, which is not something you see often these days. Nothing about it says “studio” to me.

I received my Hummingbird a week ago. I have a couple other guitars , my main being an aj45 masterbilt that I bought in 2016. This latest purchase was not to replace my main guitar but to compliment it with a different tone for different songs and I won't lie , I love the look and color too . What initially gave me the urge to look was when I found out about the IBG Hummingbird. When I first went in was primarily to play the IBG , which I did and it was impressive. I decided to play the regular Hummingbird studio just for comparison. I was blown away by the studio. I'm not saying it's as good as the IBG, but for the difference in price it wasnt that far off. Plus if I wanted the IBG , I would need to either continue to save, or sell my masterbilt to make it work financially. That I wasn't going to do as I love everything about the aj45, plus this way I could have two great guitars. They had a demo that was only rented once and I could save about $700, from what the IBG cost. For me to have a guitar that plays and sounds that great and still a price bargain made sense for me. We were told it had already received a full setup so I was good to go. I took it home and played it for two days and it played great. Every other guitar we own has been taken to our town luthier and every time they played much better after he did a set up, including two from another store that they said were set up. I took the Hummingbird in and he measured and examined and with a rather surprising look stated " There is nothing to be done , it's perfect". Well I was amazed and pleased at not having to pay out $100 for set up . So I took her home and changed out the strings for some elixir custom lights . This guitar plays and sounds beautiful and a great compliment to my masterbilt.
Thank you to Berkley Shea , the floor manager of the 58th ave store in Calgary , who took great care of us with this purchase ! Greatly appreciated!

I bought mine used with a small defect on the side which doesn't affect the playability. To me it has a mellow but balanced sound. The action is great and is fun to play. The electronics are adequate but the battery access is, um, not great. The build quality is great and it's a really beautiful guitar at an excellent price.

Bought mine about eight years ago when they cost $325.00. at that price, it was positively a steal. Definitely the best playing acoustic I've ever had. Sound wise it's OK, but tends to only sound really good with new strings. As the strings age, the sound deadens pretty fast. At the price they are at now, I would spend a bit more for the new solid wood inspired by Gibson model. I played one of those and the sound is way richer.

Very easy to play and very low action but its more on the warmer side so i put 80/20 strings and its brighter , its a beautiful guitar that plays very well , the pickup can make feedback noise if its at 100% but overall an amazing guitar but i paid 499$ has the price when up by 100$ last year

I've had this guitar for a year. I bought it because it looked pretty and I liked the reviews. It is my first guitar. I was frustrated at my thick fingers not doing justice to the notes. So I tried a couple of guitars with wider necks. No difference in ease of play. I really like the sound of this guitar. And the feel. Great value for money.

I have used this guitar on and off for several years. You just can't get this quality for this price anywhere else. I love it for its rich tones and full sound. Never had any issues with buzzing strings or with any of the mechanical features. Been playing for 19 years now and I think as far as value goes, this is probably my favourite guitar!

Had my Epiphone HUMMINGBIRD PRO for 4 years now, seem the older it gets, the better it sounds. I keep replacing the strings, but that's just me. Love the feel and the sound. An all around fun to play guitar, I only play for fun or campfire among friends.

I've had my Hummingbird Pro for about 8 months now and have never been more satisfied with the sound off a new guitar!! The Team at the Lethbridge AB store were fantastic as always. I was asked if I wanted a set up down straight out of the box but decided to wait a while to see if there were going to be any issues. Although there is a slight tonal issue with 12 fret E it is not bad enough for me to worry about. I've never enjoyed playing the guitar as much as I do now!! I now own 3 Epiphone guitars and litterally play almost every day. I run them all through a Marshall MG 100HDFX amp and get goosebumps when I hear what comes out of it. The sound of the Hummingbird Pro has given me back the confidence I once had in playing the guitar! Thank You Epiphone and the staff at Long & McQuade!!

I have had this guitar for several months now, love the look & it is the best sounding of the 10 other guitars that i own. Like some of the other reviewers here i played several other much higher priced ones in the store including some 2 to 3 thousand dollar Taylors & preferred this to sll of them even though i had went in intending to spend a lot for a real high end guitar this was the one i took home. I do have a couple small dislikes one being that one of the tuning pegs seems to skip a cog, you tune up & up with no response & all of a sudden it pings & jumps way up & then you have to de- tune back down to 440. The other thing is that the Hummingbirds on pick guard are not embossed into it like they were on the Gibson's , they are only painted on, after the first couple times playing it i noticed the heel of my hand was yellow & couldn't figure out why, then i noticed the humming birds had " rubbed off " that was a little disappointing. My daughter was playing a concert last week & was having problems with her Taylor when playing with a capo it goes out if tune, which also happens with my own mini taylor, so i told her to take my Hummingbird & she wouldn't be sorry. When she came home i asked her how it went & she said the sound man who has seen & heard her play numerous shows with at least 6 different guitars told her that was the BEST sounding guitar she has ever brought to a show & it was the best sounding one that nite of the 10 different artists that went on stage.

Had two of them and both screw up on 12th fret with loss of tone. They have a problem there. Love the looks and action but 12th fret issue must be quality controlled. It's a problem on other Epi's as well. Great if you do not play on the upper fretboard but for me I need that area.

I have nothing bad to say about my 2012 Epi Hummingbird Pro, purchased it Downtown Toronto with the help of their friendly and courteous staff, for helping me in my transaction....brought her home....changed the awful 12s on her to something more reasonable for me (on electric I usually play 9s) so...went with 10's DR Black Beauties..set her truss up....did an intonation job to her....bingo...and And I love her sound.....absolutely love the tone I get from her. Even plugged in...you won't be disappointed....absolutely sings plugged in the preamp really gives her some life. And the fit and the finish are spectacular no weird tear drop stains...not too orange in the burst...just amazing overall. I don't think I'll ever regret gettin' her @ this price

after taking a long break of playing guitar when my Ibanez broke,i wanted a new guitar and start again with something that sounded decent as i am far from a pro guitar player,my brother who is a martin and seagull owner drove me to the music store and told me to try some, after trying that epiphone hummingbird pro,i was sold, the sound was awesome, after bringing it home,i had to change the strings, however, its not deceiving me at all, when you compare to much higher priced guitars, that epiphone will not deceive you at all,it has very nice features and it sound great,my next guitar will more than likely be another epiphone, quality price, you cant beat it.

I was a left handed player but decided to try playing right handed, after playing about a dozen guitars this one won me over hands down. I played guitars from $200 -$2000 but this one spoke to me. The electrics are awesome and the sound (when tuned an set up) literally jaw dropped me. If your a beginner or advanced this guitar won't disappoint. Like I say you can have a Ferrari an not know how to drive it or you can have a mustang an drive like petty. this is my mustang.

I've had this guitar for a year, bought from L&M Mississauga. Sounded awesome from day 1. I thought the factory or store choice for strings was perfect. Kept at 45% humidity and seems to get better with each passing month. Just for the Heck of it I recently played a fairly expensive Gibson acoustic in L&M acoustic room. My Epi won...still amongst the best choice for great sound and value with an acoustic.

I bought this guitar after renting one, when i received it the strings were wound wrong, when i tried to remove and correct the wind they snapped at the tuning post, this was the only drawback,my music room is a constant 72-77 degrees and 45-55% humidity. This Guitar sounds just as good as my High End Martin's and my Gibson J 45 Custom. This Guitar set up and sitting out in a room with ideal temp and humidity will blow you away with the sound quality. Highly enjoyed and Highly recommended.

I just took home this amazing guitar! Quality is second to none and sounds like it should cost thousands of dollars. I have just recently started playing again after a long absence and after careful research playing a ton of guitars in the store, this was my choice! If you want an amazing great guitar this is the one!

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
