Spring Showers is designed to evoke the sensation of a coming, drenching and then passing of the rain. The steady flow of eighth notes in the piece provide a sense of consistent shower, beginning small, building as instruments are added, and finally quieting down again at the end. Sky and earth connect briefly to give life. Perhaps that is why the sound of rain can be so pleasing.
