I'll begin by mentioning something that isn't obvious in the description - yes, the cable you'll need to connect this to the amp head is included. Moving on, as others have mentioned, this little cabinet does pack a decent punch. Its compact size doesn't take a lot of space, so it's perfect for practice, or if you want to stay on speaking terms with your neighbours. It may not have the full range sound of a larger cabinet, but it will do the job.

You won't believe it, but I actually hooked it up on my Marshall JCM800... yeah, a 100W amp on this tiny cab. Volume at 3 top with a high gain the sound is very good. My 4x12 was way too big to sound nice at low volume. I can't play loud as I live in a flat, so this little guy ended up being the perfect cab to hav my beloved JCM800 tone at low volume. Glad I bought it, I just need to be careful not to crank up the volume lol

I live in a small apartment and run an older micro terror amp into 2 paralleled PPC108s to keep the volume down. The cabs definitely sound good, but they aren't ever going to produce a tone as nice as a proper 1x12. I went with them hoping the directionality/weak bottom end of 8" speakers wouldn't disturb my neighbors and they do the trick. The cabs look great and are kind of a humorous conversation piece, so that's cool too. For my purposes they are awesome, and would probably work out well for other apartment dwellers, or college kids living in dorms. I wouldn't expect to see many professional musicians using them for recordings or performances, but they look good in my place, sound good for what they are, and are perfectly serviceable.

First and foremost, this is a great practice amp and could be used live if mic'd, however, it is an 8" cab and sounds like it. I am running my VOX Night Train (super cool amp) and tried this against a 1x12 Greenback (in a Traynor Open-back Combo Amp - bypassed the amp of course), a 2x12 Trayner Closed-back with V30s, and a 4x12 Mesa Boogie. The sound was tinny and hollow compared to the other 3 but, I'm using it as a Load-box essentially for my home recording studio, a practice amp, and, in an emergency, mic'd up at a show. It sits on my desk beside my amp and that's awesome! This is perfect for my needs but, would I use it to play live? - no, not unless I absolutely had to. I'd much prefer the 1x12, 2x12, or 4x12. The Mesa sounded unbelievable! The Traynor 2x12 sounded great too.

This was my first cab, ever. I paired it with the Micro Dark 20 W lunchbox amp. It is a very capable cabinet, with pleasing tones and surprisingly loud given its size. It's also an unbeatable value, I think I paid $149 for it. HOWEVER, this cabinet with its purpose-built 8? speaker, and as they say about muscle cars, there is no replacement for displacement. Go bigger if you can afford it. I have since ?upgraded? from this cab (PPC108) to its bigger brother the PPC112. The sound from the larger 12? Celestion Vintage 30 is significantly better, but obviously costs more! My verdict: the PPC108 is perfect for bedroom practice and is very budget friendly.

The crush20 has the same cab. and speaker, but for 30 dollars more they throw in a 20 watt. 2 channel (foot switchable) amp. If you have the MicroTerror and want the matching cab., I would get the crush20 disconnect the internal amp and wire the speaker to a external jack. It would look the same but you would have a spare amp you could wire back up if you had to.

I just bought this today and I love it already! A perfect companion for the Orange Micro Terror and great for bedroom / small space practice. I am amazed at the volume and clarity of this tiny cab speaker. Plus it has daisy chain connectors on the back to connect more cabs. Awesome.

Not mentioned in the L&M spec list, but this is a 20w RMS cab. I mated this with a Traynor quarter horse mini-amp and was pleasantly surprised with both items! This cab is ready to play out of the box. No 'seasoning-in' period for the speaker etc. Its actually quite capable of being loud which surprised me. Loud enough for any home/practice/bedroom situation, and also quiet enough while retaining its tone. I would say it sounds similar to a 1x12" closed back, but scaled down. This is an excellent solution for home practice where you are sick of wearing headphones. I went this way with the Traynor QH because i have lots $$ invested in my boutique loaded pedal board. I'd prefer to use those babies, than some DSP modeller when i can. The tone is the real tone, not a tone-clone. And I never run out of 'DSP' processing power with true-bypass analog pedals. HD500 owners, am i right? So i can run my pedal board into my mini-amp and get nice tones out of this cab. And its portable enough to easly take along to a friends house to jam out at parties etc. One comment on the power, it is 20W, and the QH is 25W. I put the mini amp at 50% and its good enough for me. But i dont know how the can would handle full 25W input. Its not rated to take it, so be cautious about your levels. About the tone.. if you're expecting full sized amp tone, you're not going to get it. But you will come close and what you do get is actually pretty good. Also, dont try to use this as an extension cab on a full sized amp. You will probably blow the speaker. 20W. (PS I'd be curious to see how this performs mated to an AC15, i reckon it would be similar to the Orange lunchbox head).

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
