I’ve owned some great tube amps; a couple of Fender Blues IVs, a Gibson Falcon 5, a Mesa/Boogie Fillmore 50. They were great. And … expensive. This GTX 50 is AMAZING - especially at a quarter of the price! I can’t believe the sounds and tone I’m getting out of mine. Just floored. Why didn’t I go this route before? Other modelling amps just seem tinny and feeble. And the pay-for features of the Boss for Wifi/Bluetooth is just cheesy in this day and age (even on their new Gen 3 - come on, Boss…). Fantastic purchase. Zero regrets.

The tuner is an improvement from the lower tier Mustang amps. The sound quality of this amp is very nice. I find this can be used for live or recording purposes rather well.

Perfect all around amp for home, recording and live. I've had a blues jr and then a Super Champ XD before this and spent a considerable amount on pedals just to get the tones I wanted, on top of the price of the amp. This amp has 190 presets that you can modify from a huge array of pedals and amps (which can all be dialed in to your liking). Or you can build up 10 of your own presets from scratch with stacked effects anywhere in the chain, with a bunch of different amps to pick from. You dont have to worry about chaining a bunch of pedals together and making sure everything has power before you sit down and jam. This amp also has good tone at bedroom levels and its loud enough to be heard over drums. It takes a little bit to get acquainted with the controls, but the Fender TONE app makes it easier to build your rigs. My only complaint would be that some of the higher gain British amps sound a little thin and fizzy. Having said that the fender tones are killer, and react to the built in pedals really well (which can all be dialed up just like the physical pedals). Perfect all around workhorse.

This product has received some bad reviews online, though I would not know why; it's all about the intended purpose. Just buying this amp has saved me a couple of grand in effects pedals. In regard to the sound, it has a high quality speaker & the sound modeling is more than adequate with global EQ settings. There are plenty of excellent clean tones & grit tones after some adjustments & downloads. The firmware update was easy. If you take some time to customize you will really like this amp with each new sound bank. The only draw back I could find so far: the app can be buggy (can use laptop), some of the sounds out of the box require tweaking ( plenty of others incl.), connecting the WIFI straight from the amp - only handles a 15pin passcode (tad of a headache for me), the virtual effects racks are a little hard to see on a mobile, so a tablet would be perfect. I nearly bought the Katana for the price/ feature ratio. Possible quality control issues, prod. weight, updating issues, using non-boss pedals prob.(assumed accurate), was my reasoning for selection. I watched enough videos online to know what this amp can do. I was worried about a learning curve for editing/selection directly on the amp, as it turns out it is very easy. Very pleased with this amp. I have no idea about live gig with this, though for home use, experimentation & practice, I know the average musician will really like this amp. As an added bonus it has good manual connectivity on the back & I can listen to my playlists through it via BT. Glad that I bought this from L&M - it arrived early! Looking forward to buying the foot pedal for it.

The amp is a lot of fun. Only downside is it has that thinner/digital type sound. Great practice amp or amp to fool around on - definitely not a replacement for a tube amp/pedal board. But way more convenient to play around with. Recommend for practice or fun.

All the reviews for this were very good so I bought it without even trying it in store (plus the stores were all closed anyway lol). It does everything it claims and it sounds wonderful and is quite loud. It was a bit tricky to get it hooked up to WiFi and Bluetooth but once it was complete I downloaded the firmware update and it all runs smoothly now. One thing to keep in mind here is that this amp acts like a computer so it should be treated as such if you want to unlock ALL the great features it has.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
