A versatile, do-everything guitar is an essential piece of any player's toolkit, and the 214ce-K fits the bill with its solid top and robust tone. Made with a solid Sitka spruce top and layered Hawaiian koa back and sides, this Grand Auditorium serves up rich projection and volume with balance and clarity, making for a highly adaptable tone that can cover a lot of musical territory. Players will appreciate the comfortable, accommodating feel of the Taylor Neck, and the Venetian cutaway makes it easy to access the highest frets. Visually, the layered koa back and sides add an organic visual flair. This model ships with ES2 electronics and a padded gig bag for safe transportation.

It's a very solid guitar.
Everything is done perfect way.
The sound of it forced me to come back 3 times to L&M during 3 weeks and finally buy it, even though 1.5K is lots of money for me. To my ear, Koa body makes better sound than Rosewood. But upper deck must be Sitka spruce.
I love the fact that it does not have any lacquer on it.
That makes sound loud and velvety as the wood can breathe while singing. The sustain is very strong so sometimes you need to mute it bit more than regular guitar.
I can't stop petting it and my golden retriever is jealous now.
The set up was done pretty good.
I love the gig bag. It has a foam inside so it's protective and it's hard enough. It looks awesome and it's very light and convenient.

I tried comparable models from Gibson and Martin recognizing that their inherent sounds would differ, but kept coming back to the quality and sound of the Taylor. The electronics are astounding; the neck is ever so slightly slimmer but is a comfort to play; the setup was perfect with the action being lower than the Gibson and Martin's I played; the tone is clear from note to note and chords ring out beautifully. It projects loudly as well and is not as bright sounding as I expected, compared to the 300 and 400 series I tried (more $). Money has (understandably) been saved on the tuners, bridge pins and satin finish, as well as the layered/laminate body and sides + no hard case. None of this impacts the sound and playability save for your own opinion on laminate vs. solid wood. It made no difference to me. Despite being toward the more "affordable" end of Taylor's line-up (but certainly not cheap), this is absolutely a professional instrument in both sound and playability. I chose it easily over the Gibson and Martin, which btw were very nice guitars as well. No regrets whatsoever.

Action set too high , Saddle incorrectly cut, quality imo has decreased, maybe because Taylor is making guitars in Mexico , focus on cheaper woods , cheaper labour. All about making money , not making quality guitars from the US For the price throw in a hard case , because the fret board quality is no where near the guitars make from years past Shame !

The 214CE-Koa is a beautiful guitar to play, listen to and even look at. The size and shape seemed ideal for me, much more comfortable than a dreadnought. The guitar has a lovely, balanced sound for strumming with plenty of definition when playing single notes. I played it through an amp in the store only so far, and the sound is natural. My only misgivings - and they're minor - are: Action is a little high out of the box - I'm more of an electric player, so I'll want to lower it Gig bag is stylish, but at this price a case would be more appropriate.

Big fan of the grand auditorium shape, and the koa I think gives this a warmer bottom. I tried it back to back with the 314ce and liked it better.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
