It's time to rethink what an acoustic-electric guitar can do. Do you want to play leads all the way up the neck? Play longer? Play louder? Now you can with this super-comfortable, easy-to-play acoustic-electric from Martin.

The all-new SC-13E, with its patent-pending Sure Align neck system, gives you full access to all frets so you can comfortably reach those high notes. It's also equipped with a new, low-profile velocity neck barrel that ergonomically accommodates your hand as you move up the neck, giving you the comfort and playability of an electric.

It was designed from the ground up to be plugged in, and its asymmetrical body shape provides balanced output, giving you more gain before feedback. So the next time you're on stage with an SC-13E, go ahead, play it loud.

But, don't forget, the SC-13E is still a Martin, so it sounds amazing unplugged. And with the limitations of the conventional cutaway acoustic-electric removed, you can now play your way, any way, without limits.

Everything about this guitar is superb... except the poor Fishman pickup and tuner. Playability is unmatched and the unique neck makes playing this guitar a real pleasure. The unplugged acoustic tone is wonderful and has that Martin signature sound. As for the pickup, the quacky tone is a real miss by Martin. Why would they put this poor Sonitone pickup and preamp in such a great instrument. The tuner is slow and very unresponsive, more of a gimmick than something useable. I have replaced the pickup with an L.R. Baggs Anthem and the plugged in sound is now incredible. It's a shame I had to do this on a new guitar. Martin should supply this premium guitar with a premium pickup. Overall, I now love this instrument.

This guitar makes it easy to compose, it does not hurt your fingers to solo high on the neck. The tone, unplugged, is incredible. Very rich. No other low volume guitar has this much richness and bass in the tone. Very easy to bend not only single strings but double stops, It opens up a new world. I compared it to my Yamaha APX series, even stringing the APX with 11s. The Martin beat it on playability. 11s don't necessarily make it that much easier to work solos on the instrument, but the combination of build features make it work great on this.

I've been lucky enough to play & own some very high end acoustic guitars over the years, but I've always been primarily an electric guitar player. When I tried the SC-13E I was immediately blown away by how comfortable the neck is, how low the action is, and how easy it is to reach the 20th fret. Yes, I said the 20th fret! You'll be playing things you just can't do on other acoustics at all. Martin set them up with a PLEK so I'm not surprised how perfect it feels. The stock 11-52 strings with 25.4” scale trick my fingers into thinking I'm playing an electric guitar. The unique body shape resulted in my strumming arm no longer getting fatigued - and the tone is still instantly recognizable as a Martin. The built in tuner/mute is a great (& discreet) feature, and changing a battery takes five seconds. Plugging in the guitar with the Fishman MX-T system is really nice. It’s not the same as mic’ing the guitar, but it has a nice tone and a flat EQ. If you turn up the contour knob you'll get a pleasant bass + treble boost resulting in a mid scoop to cut through a bit more in a busy live mix. When gigging solo, however, I favour the flatter contour as my favourite setting, and of course you can dial it somewhere in between. Bottom line (and I don't say this lightly) - this is now my favourite acoustic guitar I’ve ever played. If you get a change to try one - do it.

This guitar is really amazing, it does anything you ask it to do. It is a canvas and will give you back what you put on it. From warm, low tone to bright strumming. As any knowledgeable player knows, thumb/fingers give you warm tone over using a pick or, same playing towards the neck vs the bridge. The guitar responds magically to these dynamics; furthermore, the electric-like gauge (11) eliminates that high action, high pressure. This, plus the crazy accessible heel allows you to shred to your content. All this without even talking about the top engineering put on it, wonderful pro gig bag and cool electronics. Can’t recommend this guitar enough as a live gig axe or as a doubler for your jamming. Of course, will be awesome for recording but for that you will probably use your standard series Martins (you dont have them? What?! Lucky that u have this one then)

Simply no Swing and a miss. It’s stupid bassy at any volume. Once you wrangle the low end, all your tone is gone. It simply doesn’t perform as advertised. Nice in the living room but on stage it’s not a professional guitar player’s piece of kit. Disappointed beyond. Expect more from Martin.

I bought this guitar after years of wanting to own a Martin. I've owned Larivee and Taylor guitars and have great ear for the sounds all the manufacturers are known for. This is probably the EASIEST acoustic guitar you'll ever play. Super comfortable and light, amazing action - ridiculously easy playability. HOWEVER I would unfortunately say that, though it sounds very good, it doesn't really have that rich dark tone that I would expect from a Martin of this price. It paled in sound to my solid Koa Taylor 414. I would give it a 7.5 - 8 out of 10 on sound. Everything else a 10

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
