The Mesa/Boogie EL-34 STR 447 Duet amplifier tube matched pair packs big, classic tone into your amp's powerplant. Mesa's best overall EL-34 set; the EL-34 STR 447 Duet works great for everything from classic rock to heavy metal. These matched tubes give your amp a focused, aggressive tonality, with plenty of low-end punch, rich midrange, and detailed highs. Great for all playing styles, these tubes add that upfront British character to your rig.

Swapped out the 6L6s for these in my Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier. I personally love the tone of the EL34s. I play quite a bit of British Invasion and New Wave Punk style. (Green Day etc.) It really depends on your guitar and speakers. If your speakers are kind of plain sounding without much high end, these tubes will fix that up. If you're using Celestion Vintage 30s, they may be too bright unless you back off on the Presence and treble. If you're at home, turn the amp down from 100 watts to 50 watts and crank up the volume on Raw or Vintage. This will let you hear the new power tubes. Sweet! You can still play heavy metal with these, although the bass strings are more revealing. You get more of the attack sound when chungging in drop D.
