Utilizing experience and knowledge up until now, Ibanez has developed ultimate ergonomic basses, the EHB basses, which feature the deeply considered headless design. The EHB's headless construction and specially designed body enable the player to maintain a similar playing position whether seated or standing. Its contoured, ergonomic design and chambered body make for a lightweight, well-balanced, and comfortable instrument that's excellent for long sets or practice session. There is extra carving on the back of the body behind the lower horn for easier upper fret access. Also, the top half of the back of the body is slanted which allows the bass to rest slight closer to the player's body for better control and a more ergonomic feel.

The EHB1005MS features an American Basswood body and the 5-piece roasted Maple/Walnut neck for well-balanced tone and clear attack. The Roasted Maple in the neck is heat-treated to increase stability, durability, moisture resistance, and tolerance of temperature changes. The Roasted Maple fretboard is also heat-treated for a balanced attack and rich sustain. Highly durable stainless steel frets accentuate tonal brightness and will not rust. Luminescent side dot inlays provide clear visibility in dark environments and the truss rod adjustment is located at the end of neck for easy access. With its multi-scale design, the EHB1005MS creates an "alive" open tone and is comfortable to play. The ergonomic construction coordinates with the player's hand angle as it moves up and down the neck, facilitating a quick, smooth, playing action.

The Bartolini® BH2 pickups in a dual-coil style configuration with a lower resonant frequency, provide a balanced, warm response with a tighter bottom end and a fuller midrange. The Vari-mid 3-band EQ features a variable mid-frequency control which allows you to dial in an incredibly wide range of sounds. There is also an EQ bypass switch for passive operation with the treble control acting as a passive tone control when the EQ is bypassed.

The MR5HS bridge is designed especially for the EHB basses and features wide intonation range. Each bridge piece is independently and securely attached to the body for maximum vibration transfer, and the saddles are adjustable for string spacing +/-1.5mm, answering every bassist's individual string spacing demands, no matter what playing style. Teflon washers are used on each tuner for a smooth tuning action.

Schaller S-Lock strap lock pins and a Neutrik locking jack hold the strap and cable securely, and a detachable finger ramp and a gig bag are included with each instrument.

I did lots of research on MS and headless basses out on the market, of course Dingwall & Kiesel's come to mind, but for under $1800 CAD, this bass is amazing. I play genres from Classic rock to Prog Rock (heavy down tune) and with the Bartolini pickup's, I love the tight bottom end so far and with my GK & Darkglass rigs and pedal selection I have, offer's me all I need. The bass is really light and comfortable, and getting used to the fanned frets is an adjustment, but not much. The only negatives so far is I do not like the locking guitar cable input, it's a hassle one handed to push the little red button and pull, and Ibenez could have done better with the knobs as they are plastic. The most amazing feature and what really sold me on this bass is the Roasted Maple/Walnut neck and Birds Eye Maple fretboard...it is stunning in person, you have to see one. This is my 3rd Ibenez and will always praise the value for the quality one gets...buy one from Jean in Vancouver, best guy to deal with at L&M for basses hands down!.

Just got mine, and have not gigged it. Build is excellent, including truly outstanding fretwork, kudos to Ibanez on that one. Wonderful smooth, and shallow neck with a nice birdseye fingerboard. Fit and finish as one would expect from an instrument this price. Same Bartolini p/u's that they have been using for years, and i really like them. Vintagey sounding. If you want modern/hifi buy the next model up with the Norstrands. Two gripes- Cheapo plastic knobs that are supposed to be recessed, but won't go down into their recesses (how did Ibanez miss that??) The included gig bag is the same one you get with the $200 micro- Not at all befitting a $1800 instrument. In all, a very nice instrument that does what it does very well. Mine weighs 8 pounds! Great for long sessions, and they use regular bass strings which is a great change from Stienberger. Real Schaller straplocks are included as well. Great, really musical EQ. Treble control becomes a tone control in passive mode.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
