The legendary Z Wreck amplifier now comes in a 15 Watt configuration! As a half-powered sibling of the original Z Wreck, the Z Wreck Jr. introduces a post-phase inverter master volume circuit into the design - ideal for studios, small clubs, and worship venues. Now the magical place between chiming clean and blooming overdrive the Z Wreck was lauded for is at the player's fingertips at any volume level, be it full bore on stage or at home in the practice room. This master volume circuit shares a similar design to the master volume players have been raving about over the last few years that are found in the MkII series of MAZ amps, the JETTA, and the NOVA.

The Z Wreck Jr. retains the attention to detail, reliability, and quality of workmanship found in all Dr. Z amps, using the exact same turret board construction and aircraft grade aluminum chassis of the original amp. It also uses the same reissue Tung Sol preamp tubes and NOS military grade 6n14n power tubes, as prescribed by Ken Fischer and true to the Trainwreck DNA. A 5Y3 rectifier tube controls the touch sensitivity and blooming response of the amp by reproducing the plate voltages found at the "comfort" setting in the original Z Wreck, making for a truly addicting playing experience.

Featuring a more price-conscious cost than its larger counterpart, the Z Wreck Jr. is available in head or top-mounted 1x12 combo, the same dimensions as the standard Z Wreck but at a back-saving weight of 44 lbs. It is loaded with a Celestion Greenback 12" speaker, made in the UK, and heard on a myriad of classic recordings over the past half a century.

Purchased a seemingly new Dr. Z Z-Wreck JR Combo at a local Long and McQuade for a great deal. The idea was to have an amp for home use and gigging with my two bands in smaller venues and mic'd shows, figuring I would need to continue to use my TSL100 and 1960A for larger venues. Well, it looks like the half stack is going up for sale because this is a MONTEROUS 15 watts! Do not be fooled by its stature or output rating, this little amp is loud! The factory equipped Celestion Greenback sounds fantastic and breaks up nicely but does have some hairiness when pushed to the limit, connecting it through my 1960A with G12T-75's and V30's in an X pattern yielded a massive sound with more crispness on the low end, perfect for gigging in nearly any scenario. With a JHS Series 3 Screamer (or any other TS type pedal, I would imagine) I was able to clean up the bottom end hair and get amazing Dookie-esque guitar tones with my Les Paul Standard, this amp loves the Burstbucker Pro's. The master volume is probably the best PPIMV I have ever used personally, this thing sounds great at volumes low enough for my neighbors in my condo to be oblivious to my playing but keeps right up when cranked in a band situation. The only way to describe the drive tones is that they bloom and fill the space, there is some VOX-like chime but somehow it also gets Marshall bottom end and growl. It is the most touch sensitive amp I have played, with light picking it cleans up significantly and if you are using the volume on your guitar you can get fantastic cleans yet the volume is nearly unaffected. For reference, I play in punk and melodic hardcore bands, it seems the vast majority of Z players play styles which are much cleaner. This amp does that very well, but it is not slouch when it comes to true tube distortion and gets pretty nasty. There is more gain on tap than I personally need, but with a pedal pushing it you can get some searing lead tones. I felt this was worth noting as its hard to find reviews on Z products where they are being used for their higher gain tones. I gave it a five star for features because it has every thing you need and nothing you don't. The EQ works perfectly, master works amazing, there's no effects loop interfering with the signal path and it isn't needed; it eats up pedals through the front end. All in all, 11/10 amp! It is worth the sticker price if you're a tone hunter!

An awesome Vox AC15 clone so can do all that and then some. One thing that really stands out to me is how the amp picks up every nuance of your playing. It can be rather humbling when you're having a bad day :) Worse feature is it can get a bit buzzy once you put both Volume and Master past 1 o'clock. But super clean when Master kept around 10 o'clock.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
