This is a great sounding guitar, and great looking guitar. However, the fretwork from the factory (at least on mine) was really bad. I had to spend some time levelling and re-crowning some of the frets to get it to play anywhere near good. Now that I have the frets taken care of, this guitar plays like butter. I wish Epiphone took more care when doing fretwork because bad fretwork can make or break a great guitar.

I absolutely love this guitar. The cream binding compliments the stunning Heritage Cherry Burst. Played great out of box, quality control was perfect; no raised or barbed frets. Plays great, and sounds even better. This is the first electric I've bought and owned but have played many and this tops all. Bought a hard case for it, and haven't looked back.

I have the same exact guitar (down to the color and glossy finish) in Gibson version. I'm not bragging, I'm definitely not a man of means, but I've managed to save up for one and I love it so much that I wanna baby it so I decided to get an Epiphone version in the same exact version down to the color so I can use it as a daily and not worry too much since the Gibson costs so much, it's practically an investment. The Epiphone looks, feels and sounds extremely close to the Gibson. You'd have to put them side by side and go with a fine tooth comb to notice the differences. And really, other than the price, there aren't many that matter. Both guitars feel identical in weight, size, shape and playability. Gibson does have the push pull on the bridge tone knob that is missing on the Epiphone to jump to the solo mode (goes into bridge humbucker mode with max volume and tone, regardless what position you were in before) but that's not a big deal. I think that sound wise the biggest thing missing on the Epiphone is Gibson's "woody" sound, and perhaps that's due in part to the polyurethane lacquer not letting the wood breathe like the thinner nitrocellulose finish on the Gibson. Regardless, playing the Epiphone I honestly would have to think real hard what I have in my hands, a Gibson or an Epiphone especially since they're both the same model and color. Maybe the lack of the nitro smell is the biggest giveaway. This Epiphone chugs, has awesome palm mutes, nice highs, screams and honestly the pickups have very similar characteristics to my Gibson's. The biggest thing is the Epiphone's frets felt like they needed some polishing to feel as smooth as Gibson's which isn't a big deal. I think this guitar presents an amazing value proposition and you gotta ask yourself is it worth spending 4.25 TIMES MORE for a Gibson...I'm not sure I can vouch for that, now that I have them side by side. Yes the Gibson has better woods, is made where the labour is more expensive and all, but from pure playability, looks, sound and feel, I feel the Gibson should be double the cost, AT MOST. Not 4.25 times. Diminishing returns I guess! If you're considering one, just get it. You won't regret it. I'm not saying don't get a Gibson, all I'm saying is that this feels closer to it way more than I ever thought it would.

I've had it and played fairly often over the last year and bit with not complaints. I bought it online and out of the box it felt great. If it ain't broke...
I'd recommend for players of all levels. It's a great chunk of wood.

So... the conclusion of this review is that this guitar is incredible. It feels like rock and roll, sounds like rock and roll, looks like rock and roll. Man, seriously, what a guitar.
The coil splitting feature is a neat trick, but I don't actually use it - I want my Les Paul to sound like one. There are honestly ZERO flaws on this guitar, my particular model at least. Having a blast with it, and of all my musical gear, this will be the one thing I'll never part with.

I'm a former 70s gold top owner, long story short, it got away from me. I wasn't actually planning to buy this guitar when I tried it out. Guess what? I walked out of the store with it (Hunt Club). The playability, tone, appearance — what a beauty — and build quality all exceeded my expectations. And it hasn't even been set up yet. You *can* go home again...

What a guitar! It's beautiful, flawlessly built and finished, plays like a dream....and the tone is breathtaking in its spectrum. I've only begun to play around with the tones but it is truly impressive. And to flog another L&M product, I'm playing it through my Traynor YCV20, the most amazing amplifier I've ever owned. Wow, thank you Epiphone, thank you L&M Nanaimo, Victoria, Surrey and Langley stores for such good service.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
