Engineered to maximize output and clarity, Ernie Ball Cobalt Slinky Guitar Strings are the latest innovation in string technology. Seeking to provide guitarists and bassists with a new voice, Cobalt strings provide an extended dynamic range, incredible harmonic response, increased low end, and crisp, clear highs.

Cobalt provides a stronger magnetic relationship between pickups and strings than any other alloy previously available. Cobalt Slinkys are also soft and silky to the touch, making string bending a breeze.

I tried these strings on my Fender PJ w/Geezer Butler pickups. These provide a noticeable boost in output and more lower-mid growl than the regular EB hybrids. More money but worth it, I think.

The hybrid refers to the gauges of 45 65 85 105. They sound pretty good on my Sadowsky Metro bass. They are certainly warmer than steel but I can't hear much difference between them and my old nickel plated strings. I have read reviews that they can break easily but have been lucky so far. They do give off a metallic smell after a time when they are used. You'll need to wash your hands after playing for awhile. They cost more than other strings; so, I will probably go back to nickel plated when it's time to change them again.

great new concept in a string, soft feel as well as bright yet not like a stainless steel! excellent strings. Might work well on an IbanezSR900 for some reason nickel strings would not work! dead E string! good job ernieball, im a customer!

I ordered these strings a while ago and they finally came in so I went to pick them up. I immediately restrung my Stingray 4 when I got home and the sound was phenominally different. I found the sound to have more clarity then other strings I have tried and they deliver a nice punchy sound. I'm not sure that they feel silky like people claim but they do feel nice on the fingers. Great product and I recommend it.
